MS Basketball!

 Peanut decided to play Middle School basketball! And she's doing great! The only other time she has played basketball was in 1st grade so it's been a long time! She wasn't sure if she was going to play or not but she decided to go for it and I'm so glad she did. She definitely has some skills and now she's working on her experience.

 

 

Most of the kids are in the same boat, but we do have two 8th grade boys from her class that played with the high school this year so they are very experienced and score lots of points.  

 

 

The others are learning the flow of the game and what to do when...like where to stand during free throws. 

 

 

This was their first game and the other team was really good. This is one of the bigger schools.

 

 

Peanut got to shoot two free throws! She almost made them!

 

 

 

We ended up losing that one, but it was a great first game! 

 

Their next game was a home game and this team was much more on their playing field. The two really good boys didn't play for more than a few minutes so the rest of the kids stepped up and did a great job! 

 

 

The coach later told me that she was really proud of Peanut's defense. 

 

 

Peanut is a post. 

 

 

And she made two baskets this game!

They ended up winning 35 to 21! Whoo hoo! Mama got to come to this game so we were sitting on the floor over by the team.

 

 

 The next team they played was really good. There were only two girls on their team and the rest were experienced boys. Peanut thought they were going to get "cooked" but they ended up giving them a run for their money! 

 

 

They played so well! 

 

 

Peanut scored twice. 

 

 

They were actually winning during the fourth quarter for a few minutes, but the other team managed to squeak out the win. It definitely wasn't the game anyone was expecting and we were so proud of our team for giving it their all! 

 

 

Their fourth game they were the ones who "cooked" the other team. This team did not have a lot of experience or any big boys playing for them.  

 

 

Peanut got another bucket. 

 

 

I think most everyone on our team got at least one! They tried not to smash the other team but we ended up winning 44 to 8! 

 

 

Middle school is a very short season so they only have three games left and then the tournament but it's been great so far and Peanut is doing so well! I hope she decides to play basketball next year with Boo!

Bowling!

 Noni took us all bowling the other day! It was so much fun!

 

 

I don't know why we don't bowl more often because everyone loves it and had a blast! 

 

 Lou did a little devilish finger tap and "hee hee hee" whenever she had a good run. Haha.

The only bummer was that Bug wasn't able to come. :( She's had a really rough couple of weeks including a bout with pneumonia. :(

 This is the new bowling alley they put on base and it's really nice! The colors are so fun and the back "wall" is really a giant screen that would change every few minutes. This one was my favorite! It looked like an alley wall with the neon lights blinking on and off.

 

 

The little ones got bumpers and did really good! 

And the big girls did great too! We played 2 and half games and we were all on track to break a hundred the last game. 

 

 

For the first hour we had the place to ourselves and then the second hour one other group came.  

 

T is ready to join a bowling league. Haha. 

 

 

Lou was loving it.  

 

 

We all had a blast! 

 

 

 After we finished we grabbed some dinner together before heading home. Such a fun night!

Valentine's Day!

  It was nice having Valentine's on a Saturday this year! T had found John Deere sweatshirts on sale for the big girls. Valentine's is "his" holiday so the only thing I contributed was outfits for the little girls. He got all the rest. :)

 

 They were super excited!

 

 

 

Of course we had to have heart shaped pancakes for breakfast. :) 

 

 

 

The little ones and I did our nails together. :)

  

 

 

A few days before Grandpa had some weird reaction to something and his hands swelled up and were so painful he could hardly use them :( so we headed out there for the day because he needed help fixing some things. 

 

We let the big girl sleep a little and then left at 9:30. 

 

 

We stopped at Sonic and then Costco for some groceries and I realized how blue Lou's tongue was! It is not normally this bright! 

 

 

We got the stuff to make chocolate covered strawberries and one of the girls took this picture. One of them had a little tripod on the bottom and could even stand up straight! 

 

 

Auntie Nae and Cousin K came over too and the girls had fun playing and going through Grandma's sewing stuff.  

 

 

Boo's boyfriend, N, had a wrestling tournament that was on the way to the farm so we dropped her off on our way and then I went and picked them both up afterwards so N could have dinner with us and meet Grandma, Grandpa, Auntie N, and K. They let me get a picture of them...so cute! 

 

 

He sent her these pictures later that he had taken.  

 

 

They remind me of me and T at that age. So sweet!

Valentine's Party!

 We had our homeschool group Valentine's party the Wednesday before Valentine's day. We had a pretty good turnout although I've noticed that it's really only people with younger kids that participate in the gatherings. We only had two older girls even though I know there are lots in the group. 

We started with musical chairs. 

 

 

And then my contribution this year was a round of Bingo. We brought enough prizes so that every kid could have one and we played until everyone won. Lou won pretty quickly.

 

 

But I was surprised by how long it took for everyone to win. It seemed like 75% of the balls were out before they all did, haha. 

 

 

Peaches was one of the last ones to win. :P 

 

 

They got to get a plate of treats after that. Lou's friend B was there. They don't actually homeschool yet but are planning to next year.  

 

 

Peaches had fun with her friends too. :) 

 

 

Then they got to check out their Valentine's from everyone. 

 

 

They love getting the Valentine's...so sweet! 

 

 

After that everyone ran outside. It was a beautiful day in the low 50's and the kids had a ball playing outside in the sunshine. I didn't get any pictures because I was inside helping clean up the party but they had a ball! Later at home Lou got the crocheted picture that Auntie Nae made for her. So cute!!
