Father's Day!

 T really enjoyed the week leading up to Father's day because they announced that they were going to do a mini car show at church so he decided to get his old pickup running well enough to make it to town. He and Peanut spent hours and hours out there working on it...that was what he enjoyed the most, having her out there helping.

 

 

So sweet! 

 

 

They took it for a test run Saturday night, and then drove it to church Sunday morning. 

 

 

On Father's day the men organized a BBQ and cooked up burgers and hot dogs. 

 

 

And we used our newly expanded parking lot for the car show! 

 

 

There were several pickups. 

 

 

And something I thought was funny...a couple of the real car enthusiasts were exclaiming over the paint job of T's pickup telling him that he shouldn't paint it and that it was a perfect paint job. I thought that was so odd because it looks so bad to me but apparently it has "a beautiful vintage patina". Who knew? I think we'll still end up painting it. Haha. 

 

 

The little ones made these in children's church. Peaches' said, "You are super because you build so many things." 

 

 

And Lou's said, "You are super because you cook pancakes" which I thought was funny because he has cooked her pancakes maybe three times in her life, haha.   

 

 

But he did cook a pretty good steak that night! We had a chill afternoon and went for a drive to check out a local church for a possible wedding location (it was too small) and then ran to the store for meat. He grilled it up while I did the sides and we all ate dinner together outside. 

 

 

These girls are so blessed to have such an amazing Daddy!  

 

 

We got him a random assortment of gifts: Lego, a pack of various sized levels, jeans, a fireproof filing box, and some shoes. 

 

 

Happy Father's Day to a wonderful father! And to all the other wonderful father's that are part of our lives!

VBS! - Part 4

The last day the morning's game was to feed a banana split to your partner, but the feeder was blindfolded and behind them. The one getting fed got VERY messy! Haha. 

And my last snack of the week was Tic Tac Toe cupcakes. I like to do an easy one for the last day so I can spend the morning getting ready for the BBQ.

Their special activity for the last day was that they got to play games with their leaders in the sanctuary.

 

 

Miss C passed out all the kids shirts on the last day and most of them put them on right away. Pastor S made balloon animals for everyone during the BBQ. 

We had way more people than usual stay for the BBQ and I actually had to run out and get more hot dogs and quickly microwave them. I'll have to plan for more next year!

 

 

 

Boo and R led the church in songs on VBS Sunday and the kids joined them. 

 

 

It's always really fun for the congregation to see what songs we sang all week and get to try their hand at the motions...although I don't think many of them jumped this high! Haha.  

 

 

After church we had a baby shower for one of the moms and Peaches and Lou were the ones to hand her the presents. Noni got a gift for the big brothers and told the girls to guess what it was. She said, "It starts with a P." They made some guesses but weren't getting it so she said, "It starts with a Puh..." and Peaches goes, "A platypus?!" and everyone burst out laughing. :) 

 

 

What a wonderful week of VBS! So many seeds planted and so many people reached! We are praying God uses it all for His eternal purposes! 

VBS! - Part 3

 Day 4 might have been the highlight of the week...the obstacle course! And this year Noni went BIG and got a 90 foot one instead of our usual 60 foot! The kids LOVED it!

 

 

They made these cute bags in crafts to hold everything they made that week! 

 

 

 

 

Bug came after she got done with her class that day and made a run through the obstacle course. :) 

 

 

I love to watch them singing the songs. It's my favorite part of VBS.

I did "Snakes and Ladders" to incorporate the must-have VBS snack, Dirt and Worms. I don't know why everyone loves it so much but they do!

VBS! - Part 2

 Day 3 was a fan favorite: face painting day! Peanut spent the week with the 1st and 2nd graders except for this day when she did face painting. She is so good at it! Way better than I'll ever be!

 

 

I went out to deliver game people snacks and grabbed a couple of pictures of Peaches who was out there with her group. 

 

 

Boo was monitoring Twister that day. 

 

 

So many kids! 

 

 Lou was playing a game where she had to get the water balloons to the pool without using her hands or popping it.

 

 

 

Peaches got a Platypus face! 

 

 

Noni took this one of Peanut painting a preschooler. :) 

 

 

In crafts that day they made a Mayan ball catching game.

Friends!  

 

 

 

My friend S and Boo's friend K both came and helped in the kitchen that day. We were frosting 200 sugar cookies that I had spent 6 hours baking up. This one is always time consuming, but they love it! 

 

 

And it was perfect for this year because we used them for a Twister theme.

 

 

 

Another day in crafts. 

 

 

There were 5 teen girl helpers in the 1st and 2nd group, Peanut and all her friends, and every time I saw them they all had a different kid on their back. Haha.They did a great job leading the little ones around. 

 

 This year we raised money for school supplies for kids in Mexico because apparently you can't go to school there unless you have your school supplies. It was so fun because our missionary friends who work at a school in Mexico were able to lead the missions time and they did a great job!!
