Rain and Rollercoasters!

 Bug and Boo went to the themepark earlier in August with their friends so while they were at their school retreat we meet up with Auntie N and K for a fun day! Unfortunately our old streak of picking the coldest day in August rang true once again, but we were still excited to be there!. :P

 

 

It was sprinkling when we first arrived. The girls wanted to go on the carousel first thing.

 

 

And then we decided to go ahead and ride the train because it was a way to get undercover. It poured the whole time we were on it and then finished right as we were getting off! Perfect timing.

 

 

From then on it was rides, rides, and more rides!

 

 

I love how these two are the best of friends.

 

 

They rode every ride in kiddie land...some multiple times!

Lou was too short to ride the kiddie coaster without an adult so I had to go with her. I think my car sickness gets worse as I get older. Two times in a row and I was getting nauseous. :P 

 

 

Peaches sat across from us so while we were spinning we would get glimpses of her.

 

 

We never even attempted to go to the water park side this year. It was way too cold. We didn't even do any of the rides where you can get wet. Brr. 

 

 

Daddy and Peanut were off riding roller coasters that whole time. We met up for lunch and later ice cream.

 

 

"What color is my tongue?!"

 

 

Then Lou, K, Auntie N and I decided to go on the old cars while Peaches took the plunge...literally...to ride her first roller coaster!

 

 

Auntie N got this one. Lou was so proud to be driving all by herself!

 

 

She was so excited when we passed cousin K.

 

 

Meanwhile...these brave girls went on a roller coaster that does two upside down loops! 

 

 

 

I took Lou on a few more rides.

 

 

And then she decided she didn't want to be left behind and joined the adrenaline junkies! Big day for joining the roller coaster club!

 

 

There they go!

 

 

And they are still smiling at the end so it must have been good! She later said, "I was laughing the whole time because I was terrified!"

 

 

Way to go brave girls!

 

 

I guess I don't need to go next year; I can just let Daddy take them to roller coaster alley, haha!

Last of the Lake Days

 We really enjoyed our lake days this year and got to go almost every single week of summer! Some weeks there were only a few friends and some weeks we had lots!

 

 

We built many sandcastles!

 

 

And the girls got so much use out of the floating mat! 

 

 

It was a huge hit with all the kids and I got several requests for the link to Amazon!

 

 

On weeks when the big girls were gone we would carpool. I found this gem on my phone later. Haha.

 

 

R and E allowed themselves to be turned into Mermen one day. Haha!

 

 

And there were many kayak races!

 

 

Peanut made this adorable turtle!

 

 

And one day when we went we found this big hole so the girls decided to improve it.

 

 

They buried each other in the sand.

 

 

And we got to see the new baby Daisy one day when dropping off friends.

 

 

Bug and Boo only made it to one or two lake days, but they did get to join us for the last one! Four of their friends came as well.

 

 

I think they dug in the sand more than they swam, but they had fun!

 

 

Peanut made a hole and Lou pretended to "fall" in. :)

 

 

Headed home...

We will miss you lake days! Can't wait for next year!

Leftover Thursday

 We discovered in August that if we turned the heat down to 85 the hot tub makes a great swimming pool! The girls spent hours and hours in there and went every day for weeks. They aren't using it as much now, but they did get in an hour this weekend. It's nice that we can make the temperature whatever we want so they can enjoy it even when it's cooler outside!

 

They love to bring floaties in too.

 

 

Jax thinks they are splashing just for him and will sit there for hours catching water.

 

 

Fun times!

 

 Peanut made a fruit pizza for dessert one night when we had the P family over for dinner. It was so good! And pretty!

 

 

 

She also helped Daddy dig the potatoes one evening. We did much better this year and got some good sized ones!

Kittens!

 The girls have been begging to get kittens ever since we lost all our other cats. A family at church said they had new babies in June so we were waiting until they were old enough and we finally got to pick them up in August! These are actually Tigger's grandkitties! We had given them three of Tigger's babies and these were the kittens of one of those! They gave us two boys and a girl so each of the younger girls got to name one.They were SO happy!

And Nala (on the left). Peaches wanted to have Nala, Simba, and Zazu but Lou was set on Licorice and since they weren't going with the theme Peanut somehow came up with Butter, haha.

 

 

 

 Thankfully the E family had tamed them really well, especially for barn cats. They are super sweet and let the girls drag them around all day. And they are great snugglers.

 

Nothing more relaxing than a pile of purring kitties!

 

 

The girls love playing with them and having them in the house...T and I less so. Haha.

 

 

Nala was sitting so funny one day while Peaches was doing school.

 

 

 I have since had to implement a no cats until schoolwork is finished because they are too distracting, but overall they are doing great with the sweet kitties! Hopefully these ones can manage to stick around and this winter we'll have less mice!

County Fair!

 Grandma and Grandpa came over the weekend of the fair so the guys elected to keep working and I took the girls by myself. They had a great time seeing all the animals. 

 

 

A boy in the craft barn made them balloons...a sword for Peaches and a dog for Lou.

 

 

The teens are always so sweet to pull out their animals to let the kids pet them.

 

 

The pigs are always so funny.

 

 

Lou loved this little calf.

 

 

But the favorite was the horses.

 

 

There was even a new baby! They got to feed it some hay.

 

 

After we saw everything we met up with some friends for dinner.

 

 

And ice cream! 

 

 

The little ones and I were about to head home but then we ran into some friends who offered to take Peanut and Peaches to the rodeo. Bug and Boo had already been planning to stay with their friends. So Lou and I headed home and the rest stayed. 

 

Bug got this picture of our little friend L. She is only 8 and she is already getting to be quite a good trick rider! She's been riding the flag around the arena to the national anthem at rodeos all over the state! 

 

 Even though it was August it was super cold that day and Lou and I were freezing by the time we got home. Grandma wasn't much warmer so we built a fire!

 

 

Thankfully it warmed back up after that cold spell. I'm not ready for winter!
