Farm Fireworks!

Auntie Nae had bought a bunch of fireworks so after our BBQ she brought them out. T and Boo were most interested in the noisy bottle rockets. :P

 

 

The younger girls loved the sparklers!

 

 

She got the really long handled ones that last a long time and they had so much fun with them!

 

 

 

 

They also loved all the pretty fountains! She had gotten a big pack so there were quite a few!

The next morning was the 4th and we were able to hang out and enjoy time with Grandma while the guys worked in the shop all morning.

 

 

 

I have always loved this dress that Auntie Nae bought for Cousin K when she was a baby. It's size 18 month, but Lou was wearing it as a shirt this year. I think it's the last year for it.:)

 

 

 

We packed up and headed to the airport to pick up Auntie J and Auntie K! Pictures to come!

Fourth at the Farm!

 We got to run down the farm for a quick two night trip for the fourth. It doesn't feel like summer til we've made it to the farm!

 

 

When did our "baby" get so big?! At least she still wears her shoes on the wrong feet 99% of the time. :)

 

 

T, Auntie Nae, and I spent a lot of time in the shop working on some wooden games for Cousin S's upcoming wedding. We made Jenga and Tic Tac Toe. The girls tested out Jenga and loved it!

 

 

And we all worked together to paint the Tic Tac Toe. Even W painted some for us. 

 

 

We had our 4th BBQ on the 3rd. Sweet cousins!

 

 

The dog here is Cousin W's and is Shadow's brother! 

 

 

The girls enjoyed the newly renovated living room including pretty new couches!

 

 

And of course I had to make Hello Dolly's! It wouldn't be the 4th at the farm without them!

Playhouse!

 Daddy has been working on the playhouse in his "spare" time. He got it all wired, insulated, sheet-rocked, and then mudded and taped. The big girls and I have been taking turns helping out where we can and one Saturday Lou and Peaches wanted to help too.

 We showed them how to fill in the screw holes and they worked hard.

 

 

Peanut is getting to be a good helper.

 

 

And Peaches actually did really well at it! She was able to fill in the holes perfectly without leaving any excess mud!

 

 

They are getting really excited for the finished product!

Funny Friday

Leftover Thursday

 I ordered Bug a dress off Amazon and it was cute on the model but for some reason it made Bug look Amish! T grabbed a paper towel and put it on her head. Haha!

 

 

These two are glued together at the hip. They are with each other from the minute their eyes open to the minute they close at night. For the most part they play really well but occasionally they start to squabble and I'll try to separate them but they are begging to be back together in just a few minutes.

 

 

 This was the first time I haven't either dropped off or picked up Peanut from summer camp so I wasn't able to get any pictures. She drove up and back with one of the other families from church and the mom sent me these two pics of her having fun.

 

 

These two decided it was their lovies' birthdays so we had homemade brownies (by Bug) and homemade ice cream (by Peanut - Pawpaw's recipe) to celebrate!

 

 

I let them get the perler beads out. SUCH a mess but it keeps them occupied for hours!

Wordless Wednesday

 

Farmhouse Update - Part 2

 Another Saturday, another family work day.

 

 

We used the rocks to help lay out the garden spot.

 

 

I think the sprinklers are so pretty! They do a little spinning dance. :)

All leading into this. 

 

 

We ended up with 11 zones! This shows ten but we realized one of them didn't have enough pressure so T had to add another after this. 

 

 I got some pictures of the lines so we would know exactly where they are if we ever have problems.

 

 

We finally got everything run and set and then were able to rebury the lines and give the lawn a final smooth out in preparation for seeding. 

 

 

I love how the garden turned out!!! We worked really hard to get it to this point...lots of laying rock, measuring, and fixing, building the metal beds, laying down landscape cloth, and then getting the pea gravel in. Yay!

 

 

We were finally ready to seed!

 

 

Uncle B got us some really nice seed from his company...apparently the same seed they use to do a lot of professional football and baseball fields! 

 

We laid it down thick and after keeping the kids and dog off it for three weeks we actually have a lawn!!! 

 

 

 

We also finished up all the beds and walkways. I am SO happy with how it all turned out! 

 

 

 

It was June 2nd before we were able to plant so we weren't able to get corn, peas, and green beans in or get raspberry bushes, but we did get tomatoes, carrots, some squashes, spinach, kale, and we have two beds of strawberries thanks to Noni giving us some starts. Next year we'll be able to plant everything!

 

 

This year the grass is the star of the show! It's so beautiful and we are LOVING having a lawn!
