Upstairs Addition COMPLETED!

 That's right! The upstairs addition is completely DONE! It feels so good to say that! It feels like we've been working on it for years and years. :P

So far the big empty family room is still mostly empty because the couches we ordered on December 19th still aren't here! They are saying a few more weeks. They are supposed to be awesome and I'm choosing to believe they are so back ordered because they will be extra great and last us a really long time. Haha.

 

 

We put the Barbie stuff in the other corner, but I need to figure out a better system because even though I'm trying to keep it contained to this one corner it inevitably spills out into the rest of the upstairs.

 

 

I love that beautiful trim on the picture window set! 

We brought this cabinet up from the basement and T cut out the back for the laundry chute...one of my favorite parts of the new addition! I know it was a pain for him to put in, but it makes life SO much easier! The girls are having fun throwing their clothes down it and it is so much easier for me to sort it every day or two rather than on laundry day. When laundry day comes it's so much more efficient to be able to start the laundry right away rather than spend a good half hour trying to sort it into piles, and inside out all the clothes. :P

 

 

The girls' bathroom turned out SO well! I am in love with the colors and feel of it! It is sweet and light and airy and just makes me happy!

 

 

I found this adorable shower curtain on Amazon, and we found the rugs at and towels at Walmart.

 

 

I LOVE these vanities! We were originally only going to do one sink per section, but I loved these vanities so much that T sweetly re-plumbed so we could have two sinks each. Here are Boo and Peanut's sinks.

 

 

Here is Bug and Peaches' area. 

This may look like a simple picture, but it was so much work to get it to this point! I have new appreciation for people who build houses! And for my amazing husband who put things like this together like it's second nature.

 

 

We still have to do some painting and trimming in the upstairs, but the addition part is complete! Whoo hoo!

 

T took this picture of me wedged in between the two houses in order for us to save this last old window before we boarded up the gap which was necessary for fire code.

 

 

Then it was time to bust a hole in the wall! 

 

 

It's fun to have this doorway finally! It took me two days to clean out the school/game closet and get everything organized. 

 

 

I love how bright our bedroom is going to be with so many windows for natural light!

 

 

Now that the girls' addition is finished we are working on our master bed and bath. We only have a few more weeks before the electrical permit runs out so we are keeping our noses to the grindstone.

Bedrooms!

 The girls (and I!) were so excited to see their rooms coming together! I was amazed at how even though their rooms were almost an identical layout, they all turned out so differently and really reflect the personality of each girl! Bug went with a cactus/succulent theme and her colors are mint, coral pink, and gray. Very pretty and grown up!

 

 

 Boo went with a navy/mustard theme along with owls. I love how bright and fun her room turned out!

 

 

 And I really love the navy wall. So striking. 

 

We decided to go with the nicer closet systems since we plan for this to be our forever home. 

 

 The girls and I spent an entire Sunday afternoon hanging pictures and decorations while Daddy worked. 

I love Peaches room. It fits her so well. :)

 

 

We were able to use the playhouse Daddy had made for the other house. After a few days she ended up telling me that she was scared to sleep up so high so we moved the mattress down below. :) She was the only one who had a hard time with the transition because she was only 2 when we moved here so she doesn't remember sleeping in her own room. She was scared to sleep by herself for the first week or so, but she's used to it now.

 

 

Peanut really wanted a "sweets" theme. I wasn't so sure about that but it turned out very cute! 

 

We had to get pictures on their first night in their new rooms! I admit I don't mind having Peaches in the playhouse since now I don't have to climb up the ladder anymore. Haha.

It is so nice to have them in their own space once again! They did better than I ever could have imagined; four girls living in one big open room for two and half years! They had their moments but for the most part they did beautifully, and now they are back on their own and enjoying the quiet. :) Pictures of the rest of the upstairs to come.

A Walk

 We got to go on a fun walk with Noni the other day. It felt so good to be out and about in not-freezing temperatures. We are so happy spring is here!

They found this giant hill and had a great time running up to the top and then back down again.

 

We decided we need to come back here in the winter with sleds!

 

 And this next picture was taken right before Lou fell. She twisted her planted leg as her body continued to fall down the hill. Noni went and got her and she cried hard for about a minute. Noni put her down to walk to me and she crumpled. Her leg could not support her weight at all. At that point she wasn't even crying, more like baffled that her leg wasn't working. She tried two more times to stand and again her leg just gave out. I was thinking maybe it was dislocated and we were on the way to the doctor but couldn't figure out why she wasn't crying. She tried again and this time was able to put some weight on it, and about thirty seconds later took off on her scooter again. Kids are so resilient! :P

 

 

 

We found a small playground and they jumped on the swing.

 

 

And went down the slide.

 

 

And Noni got a picture of us at the top of the hill. Bug was with Daddy on a Lowes run.

It was the perfect night for a walk! Daddy and Bug were on their way back through town just as we finished so we met them for Mexican food to top off the night. We are looking forward to more warmer and longer days ahead!

Leftover Thursday

 Peaches was looking at me through her water bottle saying I looked funny, and I said right back at ya! :)

 

 

Peaches loves AWANA games. They had so much fun playing a bible version of Duck Duck Goose. 

 

 

But most of the kids, Peaches included, didn't understand you were supposed to get back to your seat so they just kept running in circles. Haha.

Ba was nowhere to be found one day at Noni's so they loaded Lou up with other stuffies to help her go to sleep.

Wordless Wednesday

  

Videos

 The girls came marching randomly through the house one day. I thought it was so sweet at the end that Peaches waited for Lou when she fell behind. :)

 This video got flipped sideways for some reason but I finally got Lou on video saying, "Hum!" which means come, with the sweet little hand wave. She does this any time she wants to show me something, but I've had a hard time capturing it on video!

 I opened the window one day when it was sunny and warm-ish, and Queso heard the birds. It was like mind-blowing for him. Haha! He was slightly shaking with excitement and I've never seen his eyes open so wide! Haha!

 Boo had to make a marshmallow shooter for STEM class. It was harder than we thought it would be to get them in the cups!

It took me a whole week, with hours spent every day, to get the girls all moved from the basement to the upstairs, and that was after Grandma spent a whole Saturday cleaning and sorting the Lego area while helping Bug get organized and stay motivated to get her stuff moved upstairs! Thank you Grandma!!! 

I got three bags of garbage out, which was surprising since I had already gotten several big bags in the weeks leading up to that. Boo moved all of her stuff on her own, but I had to move all of Peaches stuff and quite a bit of Peanut's. Then there was two and half years of "stuff" built up in every nook and cranny that had to be sorted and organized. It felt SO good to have a fresh clean basement once again!

I'm just about caught up on videos! One more week should do it.
