Father's Day

On Father's Day weekend we started siding! It was so exciting to see this major project finally get started! T came up with a clever homemade rack to be able to paint a bunch of pieces at the same time.

And the pieces actually started going up pretty fast. 

Boo helped almost all day Saturday.

And before long we were to the top of the garage! 

Sunday we went to church, came home and had lunch, let Daddy open a few presents (laser tape measure, ropes, tractor chain, and a palm sander). 

Then we got to do another family Zoom!

 

I am loving these virtual get-togethers! 

After Zooming it was back to the siding. We got a great start on it for the first weekend!

I had to grab a picture of the girls and their amazing Daddy. He works so hard for our family both at work, and here at the house. Not only that, he teaches the girls how to work and they are learning new skills all the time. We are so very blessed and so very thankful!!! 

And we're also blessed with all the other wonderful father's in our life! We are thankful for each one of you too!

VBS

VBS looked a LOT different this year. It was pretty sad because even though VBS week is completely exhausting and SO much work it is also one of the most fun, exciting weeks of our year. V(irtual)BS wasn't nearly as exciting. 

When I found out that Miss J was making up craft packets to hand out I tried to think of a way to make snacks work too. I ended up doing five very simple snacks that could be put into the giveaway bags.  

I masked up and headed to the local grocery store for supplies. It ended up being half the price as usual since I was doing more simple snacks, and I also wasn't making them for workers. 

I wanted to do something to make them a little more special than just a baggie of snacks so I printed up sticker labels for each day. Peanut and Peaches put them on the bags for me. 

 

Only one of the snacks required any cooking and Bug, Boo, and Peanut were happy to help out.

It was a mountain theme so we made little "matchsticks" with pretzels, white chocolate, and red sprinkles. 

Lou was a PILL while we made snacks. She ran around reaching up to the table and countertops and pulling off/spilling anything she could get her fingers on. I finally had to put some chairs out to block her from getting into the kitchen. She threw such a huge fit that she actually made herself throw up from crying so hard! Good grief! :{

And then of course twenty minutes later acted like nothing ever happened.

Here is the finished product. Day 1 - Make you're own Smores, Day 2 - Don't Feed the Bears (Teddy Grahams), Day 3 - Light a fire in your heart for Jesus! Day 4 - Watch out for snakes! (chocolate pudding, cookie crumbs, and gummy worms, Day 5 - Trail Mix 

 

The next week during actual VBS Pastor S asked if I would bring the girls up to help with the memory verse and singing videos. We ended up going all four days (they did Monday's video on Sunday) and the girls had a lot of fun. 

 

Lou wasn't quite sure what to think. :)

 

But the big girls loved singing along! 

It was fun to go up to the church and still feel like we were getting a little mini-VBS.

And they had fun seeing themselves online when they went to watch the days' video.

Here is Peanut with one of the crafts. 

 It definitely wasn't the VBS week we are used to but I'd say we made the most of it and had as much fun as COVID-ly possible. :)

Welcome Summer!

I think I somehow missed these pictures...last day of school!

Goodbye 4th!

 

Since all of our summer plans have been cancelled I wanted to do something that would let the girls know we can still have fun this summer so one night when we ran in to do a Lowe's pickup for house supplies I donned my mask and popped into the Dollar Store to grab some fun things. 

The girls were really surprised and so happy!

I also bought them some summer bridge learning activity books to avoid the "Summer slide". 

I got Lou a couple of balls. She loves balls! It's one of the only words she can say. "Bah!" We've also been working on facial features but so far the only one she can say is "EYE!" Most often accompanied by a poke in the eye, but nose, mouth, or ear works too. Haha.

Peaches was SO happy about the flip flops. She kept saying, "FANK YOU FANK YOU MOMMY!" 

 Even though all our fun trips were cancelled I'm going to do my best to make this  summer fun and a good memory for the girls!

Leftover Thursday

One of my most detested seasons - Safeway Monopoly time. :P The girls LOVE it and we have several church members that know it and save all their tickets for them. It makes such a mess and there are tickets everywhere for months. This particular picture is from only ONE batch of tickets from Mr. K and Ms. L.

Saying bye-bye to Grandma and Grandpa one day after they'd come to help on the house.

The girls love to "Make a Hawaii". They get a heater, towels, and an umbrella and go sit on the sand colored carpet and pretend they are on the beach. :)

The day we realized Jax needed a bigger cage. Haha!

The girls desperately wanted to roast marshmallows one night but it was raining so Daddy built them a fire inside.

Family movie night! If you haven't seen Smallfoot we would highly recommend it. Super cute.
