Leftover Thursday

The girls are really into bath bombs. Peaches calls them "bath balls". This is the cupcake one Buggy won at our New Years bingo. :) 

The bunk beds are almost complete! They each have a book basket, light, and letter sign now. All they need is shelving at the ends of each bed. I love how they are turning out!

Peaches was "reading" a book while I was feeding the baby the other day. She looked up and said, "I reading my bible!" and hugged it to her. Actually it was a Spanish dictionary. Haha!

If I need to grab something while baby is on the changing table I stick a book into the side so there is no chance of her rolling off even though she doesn't roll yet. I came back to find her looking at it. :)

Speaking of bows...Buggy made this one for Peaches. :)

T ran out of mortar with only a couple bricks left! What a bummer!!

Wordless Wednesday

Sickie Babies

 We have been remarkably healthy this school year, but for some reason right at the beginning of February we always go down. This year it came a few weeks early, and made the third year in a row someone had strep. Peaches got a runny nose the day before Christmas Eve and dripped for three weeks before waking up from a nap crying one day. For the first time she said her ear hurt and then wouldn't stop crying/whining. 

Noni had been over that day because Peanut had a doctor's appointment and I wasn't able to take her because of the baby. She had a cat scratch that had healed, but the area around it had been red and flaky looking for over a month. The doctor took a culture and said it was most likely ringworm which I didn't realize had nothing to do with worms. Thank goodness! :P It's just a rash in the same family as athlete's foot. 

Thankfully Noni was still there when Peaches woke up crying, and I was able to get an appointment that afternoon. Right before I called, Bug said (also for the first time) that her throat was starting to hurt. I looked at it and saw white spots so I got her in at the same time. Noni took them to their appointment and came back with two sets of amoxicillin. Ear infection for Peaches and strep for Bug. Thank heavens for Noni!

Peaches was off and on cranky for the next couple days.

But thankfully she was GREAT at taking her medicine! Anytime I told her she needed some she came running at me with her mouth wide open! "I open my mouf!"

Little bird. :) 

I don't know if it was the taste she liked or the fact that Noni bought her a bag of gummy bears and we gave her two after each dose. "I need my gum bears!"

Peanut liked to distribute her "gum" bears because somehow one or two extras would fall out of the bag every time and she would get to eat them. ;)

 

Thankfully (prayers answered!) no one else got sick! I was especially worried that the baby would catch it, but the rest of us stayed healthy! T says I am a germaphobe, but I'll do anything I can to keep us healthy! Including buying and installing our own automatic dispenser for hand sanitizer. It's come in quite handy! Haha! 

I'm ready for Spring and some sunshine to kill off these winter germs!

"Happy Spitter"

 We have seen our share of spit up with the other four girls, but this one takes the cake. Like ALL the cake. She spits up SOO much!

 Apparently there is something called a "happy spitter" meaning that the baby spits up a lot, but they aren't bothered by it so you really don't have a problem. Other than laundry. Lots and lots of laundry. I do a load of laundry for this little girl every single day. On my regular laundry day I have to pause and put a load for her in so we don't run out of bibs and burp rags even though we have tons. I just bought two more packs of bibs so we have over 20, and she still gets close to running out. She goes through 2 or 3 bibs after every feeding times 6 or 7 feedings a day...you get the idea. 

These were some of my favorite jammies of Peaches and every time I would put them on she would spit up on them before I could even get her off the table! It happened three or four times so she only got to wear them twice before she outgrew them. :P

I have been debating giving her either gas drops, gripe water, or probiotics to see if it helps. On the one hand I feel like I should leave well enough alone, and on the other I think it might help her gain weight faster if she wasn't spitting up so much. Plus it's really sad to watch when it comes out her nose (happens a couple times a week) and she sputters, coughs, and chokes. :(

Bug, Peanut, and Peaches were all spitters too, and by cutting out dairy from my diet I was able to solve it. This time I cut it for five weeks and it didn't do anything!

Not only does she go through a couple outfits a day, if I'm not on the ball I do too. :P 

 This one doesn't look that bad but it went right down my shirt and puddled in my undershirt! Warm, wet, and chunky! Yuck!

They say most babies outgrow spitting up around 6 months so we've got a ways to go! Hopefully she'll outgrow it sooner than later...or we figure out a way to help her stop!

Christmas Dresses

I don't think I posted these pictures of the girls in their Christmas dresses. Two of the families at church gave them these at baby's shower! So sweet! I absolutely love them! I think they are the prettiest dresses they've ever had! 

It's hard to believe how fast these girls are growing up!

Auntie Karen

We were so excited to learn that Auntie Karen was coming for Christmas break! She is always SO much fun and keeps us laughing! Everything is more fun with her around! 

I was also so glad she was able to come when baby was still so little! I think this is the youngest she's been able to see one of the girls. 

Baby seemed to know right away that Auntie Karen was pretty special! 

The girls all spent several nights there to get as much time with Aunt Karen as possible. Because we were still in the newborn phase T and I didn't spend the night. The three guest rooms at Noni's are close together and with baby waking up screaming multiple times in the night I figured it would just make for a lot of sleep loss for everyone. :/ So I didn't get near as much time with Karen as I wanted, but we still managed to get over there several days to hang out, play games, and visit. 

They also came to our house.

The girls were super excited to show Aunt Karen our new house and all their favorite spots.

Baby had smiles for Auntie Karen! This was when she very first started smiling. :) 

We were going to go out to dinner her last night but Mama caught Peaches' cold so Noni made a nice dinner and we went over and played a round of dominoes. We had already started back to school at that point, but the girls worked hard and got extra work done so they could spend Thursday night and take Aunt Karen to the airport the next morning.

 

One last baby snuggle. :(

All smiles, but goodbyes are so hard! We all wish Aunt Karen lived here! It's so hard to see her go!

We're already looking forward to her next visit!
