The County Fair

I love our little fair! It's the perfect size and it's always fun to walk around and know more than half the people you see. Haha :) 

The girls were dying to do the bouncy stuff so we headed there pretty quickly after arriving. Look at this air time on Boo!

Bug tried the Bungee run.

Look at this sweet expression on Peaches' face...she can be sweet when she wants to be...which is not very often these days. Haha!

After the inflateables we headed to the animal barns. Horses were first.

 

Peaches was really excited to see them and reached out a hand to touch one until it moved. Haha!

 

Peanut bravely petted all the horses.

Peaches loved the pigs as long as she didn't have to get too close. She was pointing and "talking" a mile a minute.

But she definitely wasn't going to touch one!

In the sheep/goat barn she finally found something more her speed...a baby goat. I don't know if it was the size issue or what but as much as she shied away from the other animals she walked right up and petted and tried to hug the baby goat.

The emus were pretty much ignored, and the geese made piercingly loud honks when she got too close which caused her to wince and put her fingers in her ears.

Peanut loved the "pigets" which were pigeons. :)

Bug and Boo weren't overly impressed with the animals but had fun finding which ones belonged to people they knew. 

We got dinner and elephant ears and watched about 30 minutes of the rodeo before heading out, and we found a Queen and a Princess to take a picture with. Love how Peaches is looking at them adoringly. :)

Eclipse

So apparently I need to research things a little better...I hyped the eclipse up WAY too much to the girls. I honestly thought it would get mostly dark since we were so close to the totality path. In hindsight we really should have gone to visit the cousins in Oregon that weekend instead of our visit a few weeks later. Oh well. It only happens every few decades right?? :P 

The night before the eclipse Daddy made viewing boxes with the girls.

And the day of we went with some friends to an eclipse party that one of the local schools was throwing.

After reading all the stories about people going blind in previous eclipses I was super careful to have the girls wear sunglasses under the eclipse glasses and only look for 10 seconds at a time.

Thankfully there was a fun playground there or the whole thing would have been a big bust. 

The girls thought the sun looked cool but after it was over they were like, "That's it?" And honestly I was thinking the same thing! I really thought it would get dark! To be fair it did get dark-er. It was a weird dark...not quite like sunset or sunrise. It was pretty eerie.

Peaches had a ball on the playground equipment. She went down the slide about 20 times with Bug and a couple of times all by herself!

The school's PTA did a great job and had fun snacks: Capri-SUNS, Eclipse gum, Sun Chips, and a bunch of sugar cookies frosted in the different phases of the eclipse.

Even though our expectations were way too high (there's a lesson in there, right? ;) we still had fun and it was cool to see. 

And if it ever happens again we're totally taking a trip to the totality zone! :)

I forgot that I took a video of Peaches and Peanut reading together when the big girls were in Texas but it was too cute not to post now!

Leftover Thursday

For some reason I didn't get any pictures of the girls opening their school supplies! Whoops. Here they area all organized neatly...I'm taking a good look because it will never look like this again. :P

 

Buggy was excited to see that she gets U.S. History this year!

Ready to learn!

Peaches LOVES back scratches from Grandpa! We were eating out one day and she was off the chair, on the chair, standing on the chair, etc, etc. Then Grandpa started scratching her back and she sat stock still for a good five minutes. Haha!

Her newest dance move. I think it's called, "See my belly." Haha!

Since I've always nursed I've never had a chance to feed one of my babies a bottle, but since Peaches won't drink her milk out of a cup with a straw she and I have a little rock/milk/book session every night. She won't sit still for long but I am loving these sweet snuggle moments!
