Funny Friday!

I find that tofu prepared at restaurants is delicious but I’ve tried several different ways at home and it always tastes…not very appealing.

Blueberries!

The other day we found a hidden treasure! Noni’s friend invited us to go blueberry picking and it’s just 30 minutes from our house! It’s an amazing farm with a U-Pick section. They don’t advertise so it’s all by word of mouth. I couldn’t believe how many rows of bushes they had! These pictures just show the small U-Pick section. They also have raspberries but they were picked over by the time we went. Next year we’ll go earlier!

The bushes were loaded! You just grabbed a handful and rolled them off. The girls and Noni and I picked 35 pounds in a little over an hour!

Peanut had a great time.

She was so happy.

Boo did a great job! She picked almost a full bucket (5lbs) herself!

They are really nice and actually encourage you to eat while you pick! Buggy’s lips and tongue were purple!

We came home with 23 pounds! I froze most of them so we have lots of blueberry pancakes and scones in our future!

Goodbye Aunt Karen

On Aunt Karen’s last day T and Papa had a church board meeting so the girls and I headed in to spend one last evening with Aunt Karen.

After dinner they played The Boxcar Children. Aunt Karen was Henry, Bug was Jessie, Boo was Violet, and Peanut was Benny. So funny.

Noni and I took the girls on a road trip to Texas and if we hadn’t been able to promise them that they would see Aunt Karen in just a week they would have been devastated to see her go! She’s so much fun!

Thanks for spending two weeks of your summer with us Aunt Karen! We love you!

Goodbyes

After we left Leavenworth the girls were so tired that they slept for part of the way home. All three crashed out.

We stopped at a little antique store on the way back after they woke up. It was really cute.

When we finally made it home I opened my birthday presents. Then Uncle K and Aunt J took Mama the rest of the way home while Noni, Aunt Karen and I headed to bible study. We grabbed Subway on the way and ate it while watching the Beth Moore video since we were out of time.

The next day was T and my’s 11 year anniversary! We spent the day car shopping! Haha :)  We are considering getting a new car since the Pilot is getting a little crowded, but basically after hour of looking at every possible SUV it came down to the fact that we basically need a minivan.

T and I have always swore we would never get a minivan, and we’re still not giving in yet! But for the first time the option is on the table. Kind of. The features they offer are unbelievably awesome. But it’s a MINIVAN! :P

We met up with the family for lunch and dinner between our shopping.

Uncle K and Aunt J bought us all dinner at a fun Italian place.

Noni ordered a calzone and was shocked when they brought it out. It was HUGE! She was a good sport and took a picture with it. :)

T and I had to get the little ones home to bed, and a late bedtime at that, but the rest went and walked around the boardwalk at the lake.

I’m so glad they got to visit! We had so much with them!

Thanks for making the long trip from Florida! We miss you already!

Leavenworth Continued

The second night Uncle K grilled us some hamburgers. They were delicious!

The way the house was laid out made it look like it used to be two places turned into one. There were basically two separate houses attached with a breezeway. Here is one of the kitchens and the one we used to make our food since it had the bigger dining table nearby.

Aunt Karen read the girls bedtime books one night.

We all got into darts while we were there! T showed Mama how to play and she did really good!

In fact she got the highest single score of the trip! :)

After the girls went to bed we played cards and talked.

I went in to check on them and found Buggy’s pillow ejected and her barely hanging onto the end.

My camera wouldn’t focus in the dark but I thought Peanut looked so funny here. I guess she dealt with the heat by unzipping her pjs. Haha :)

It was a great place to stay. The big bummer was that part of the reason we got this place was because they had built a new pool that was supposed to be ready by June. Unfortunately they had problems with their contractor who messed up big time and they had to redo a bunch of stuff which made the pool un-useable.

Not only that but there were trenches and wires all over the yard so we couldn’t let the kids outside at all. :(

They did give us a discount for the trouble.

Our last morning was also the morning of my birthday! Noni put candles in my bagel…trick candles! I’d never actually seen them in person before. They would blow out and then start sparking and light back up! The girls loved it!

They wanted to try to blow them out too.

After we got ready and all packed up and checked out we headed back into town for a little more shopping and lunch before we left.

The favorite was the Christmas store. The girls about lost it when they saw this window display of Frozen stuff. They were so excited!

I got some cute ornaments to commemorate the trip. The girls favorite part was the wide selection of nativities. They loved seeing baby Jesus.

Bug and Boo begged me to take their picture with these flowers.

After shopping we headed to another lunch at a little German café. They had soups, sandwiches, and a variety of “wursts”: bratwurst, veggiewurst, klockwurst??…all kids of them. Haha :)

Love how Peanut is peaking over Daddy’s shoulder. She got carried around all morning. Any time she got put down she would find someone else and sweetly say, “Can you please pick me up? I’m a little tired.” and of course all the adults said yes. :)

We had to get one big group shot before we headed out. Such a fun trip!
