The other day T had a really long day (started at 6:30-7am) and couldn’t get off work in time for me to go to Zumba so I packed the girls up and took them with me.
About halfway through I saw two little red spots on Peanut’s upper lip. I didn’t think much of it, but by the time Zumba was over they were two mosquito-bite sized dots. I thought she’d gotten bit by something. I took the girls home and gave them a bath and her lip was starting to swell. T still wasn’t home so I put Boo to bed and called our insurance’s nurse hotline about the swelling.
They didn’t seem to be bothering her. No itchiness or anything, and when I went to take a picture of it she gave me this big smile. :)

T finally came in just as I had gotten through and was telling the nurse that the inside of her lips were starting to swell too. She suggested that we take her in to the ER. I didn’t realize that T hadn’t even eaten dinner yet (it was about 8:40), but he turned right around and took her back up to the hospital for me.
He sent me this picture a little while later.
*Notice the pajama change. Her other ones had a big hole in the bottoms so I changed her really quick, haha :)

While they were waiting to be seen small red dots started popping up all over her body.

And the swelling continued to get worse.

They gave her Benadryl and Prednisolone and we kept her on it for three days. I thought she would be ok to only take it two days, but about an hour after she woke up the third day she started itching her hip/leg and when I looked she had these long welts all over…

Poor baby. We never did figure out what it was. Maybe there was something on the gym floor at Zumba (somewhere she’d never been), maybe it was something she ate, but there was nothing new that we could think of. She hasn’t had any more since that third day, and other than some slight bruising from the swelling she seems perfectly fine.

We’re very thankful it wasn’t worse!
