Birthday Cake

On Christmas Eve, after Frozen, we headed back to the house and made a birthday cake for Jesus.  This is one of the girls’ favorite traditions.  Noni suggested I buy the little Jiffy cake since we never eat the cake with all the other cookies, candies, and Christmas treats around.  It worked out perfectly!

They pretty much did everything with minimal help! They are becoming good little kitchen helpers!

Peanut got bored and brought a book to Auntie Karen to read.

After the cake was cooled the girls frosted it and got out the sprinkles and candles.

They used A LOT of both.

Including every candle Noni had in her stash. :)

Gingerbread

Whew! We have had a wonderful but busy two weeks!  On Monday the 23rd we picked up Aunt Karen from the airport and headed back to Noni’s for an 8 night stay!

 

We started our first morning together making Gingerbread houses.  Noni had bought a four-house kit so the girls both got to do two houses.  Daddy provided the main construction and they decorated.

I love how meticulous they are with things like this!

K really wanted to do it all by herself but the frosting was really thick and hard to squeeze out of the bag.

Peanut spent her time confiscating fallen sprinkles. :)

Daddy eventually got it softened up to the point where K could get a little out.

Peanut also found a Santa hat.

After lunch we headed over to the movie theater to see Frozen.  We all loved it except for Boo Bear who was so scared Noni took her out of the theater and missed over half the movie. :{  She gets scared of things pretty easily.  The rest of us thought it was great!

Funny…Saturday?

Boo Bear

It’s hard to believe our little Boo Bear is going to be four in just one short month! 

She has been going through a bit of a…phase…lately.  I must admit I have been quite anxious to get past it!  Terrible two’s?  Not a bit.  Terrible three’s?  Not so much.  Up until about three months ago she’s hardly given us a speck of trouble.  Then she decided to make up for it.  She’s thrown four MAJOR fits that put to shame anything her big sister ever did. I’m talking about screaming/kicking/crying/hour long episodes.  We have been at our wit’s end trying to figure out not only what to do but where on earth it’s come from! 

She’s always been so sweet that’s it’s been especially hard. Thankfully she seems to be mellowing again, and I can only hope she’s gotten in out of her system, and we’re working on reinforcing the understanding that we can’t always have our own way which is where the trouble stemmed from.

Lately she’s been getting back to her funny old self.

And with her new desire for independence has come some…interesting…wardrobe choices.

At least she is wearing two of the same shoes.  The other day she wanted to wear those shoes and could only find one so she insisted that she was going to at least wear one of them and then chose a different pink shoe to go wit it.

I heard of a mom who had an “I dressed myself” button that she would let her daughter wear on “those” days…I think I need to get one! :)
