Cousins and Birthdays

The girls spent all of Friday playing with their cousins.  They had so much fun!  They played outside, played inside, went swimming in the hot tub, watched a movie, and just generally had a wonderful time!

The guys helped Grandpa with his newest project, a hay bale accumulator.

After dinner we did smores and finished off the rest of the fireworks.

Auntie Nae fixed Boo’s hair and her little ponytail was killing me with it’s cuteness.  It was bouncy and fun, just like her. :)  Of course I had to get a picture!

The guys let each of the kids light some fireworks.

Buggy was a little nervous but she worked up the courage and went for it.

Boo made ME nervous with her un-nervous-ness. :P  She wanted to light off all the fireworks and loved it when they exploded.

After they went off she went skipping and prancing through the smoke.

Waylon wasn’t as fond of them this year…an opposite reaction from when they were babies!

What a fun time at the farm!

On Saturday we had to head out and run home for a birthday party.  I forgot my camera, but the girls had an awesome time celebrating with their friends!

Then we went back towards town to celebrate Mama’s birthday.  We had dinner together and then played a game of Bocce Ball.

Then it was time for presents.

Peanut discovered the kiddie pool right away.

We came home and crashed, and then were off to church the next morning.  As soon as it let out T, Papa, Bug, and I headed to play 9 holes of golf.  It was the first time I had played in two years (since I was very pregnant last summer).  It was a lot of fun.   Hopefully we’ll get some more time to play this summer!

We’re off to the lake today to celebrate my birthday!  Hopefully the water will be nice and warm! :)

Happy Birthday America!

We had such a great 4th on the farm!  Grandma and Grandpa had their annual festivities and all the cousins were able to come this year.  My first order of business was getting a family picture before the girls got their white shirts dirty!  Thanks Auntie Nae for taking our picture!

Speaking of which…as soon as all the cousins arrived we took them down to the fireworks stand to load up.  Our usual one was already sold out so we had to try a different one, but it worked out fine.

After we got back from our fireworks run we finished the last minute prep for the BBQ.  There were quite a few people there this year!  Uncle Wade was in charge of the BBQ.  Everything was really good.

Peanut got a red, white, and blue dinner!  And unfortunately it came out just as colorful! :P

Daddy, Uncle Wade, and Uncle B put on a pretty impressive fireworks show for us!  I was glad that the girls weren’t scared this year, although they didn’t love the super loud ones.

They were both brave enough to do Roman candles.

Daddy  helped Boo with hers to make sure it stayed pointed in the right direction. :)

The Playhouse

A couple of weeks ago I was feeling ambitious and decided to let the girls help me paint their playhouse.  They actually did pretty well and I had the foresight to tape off the floor so it didn’t get too messy. :) 

They were so excited to get painting!

T said he could sheetrock, but we decided to just paint the plywood.  It’s not fancy, but it looks a lot better than it did.

I taught them the finer arts of painting, such as “when dipping your paint brush try to only dip to first inch into the paint.”

Boo took a little longer to learn this lesson than her sister.

I think the yellow made it nice and cheery and bright!

Grandma made the girls a cute little banner out of some leftover fabric. We just have to finish that triangle at the top and do a few touchups.

T even made some window boxes and I let K decorate with some fake flowers I got at a garage sale.  I think it looks pretty darn cute!

I’m hoping the girls will get a lot of use out of it this summer!

Wordless Wednesday

“Uh-oh!”

We tried to get a video of Peanut’s “Uh-oh” when we were at the condo.  This video is kind of dark but you can hear her say it a few times.

This video just made me laugh. It’s the perfect example of the way Bug and Peanut relate.  Bug can make her laugh better than anyone…and the same goes for screaming!  Peanut can be VERY vocal about not wanting to be picked up or re-directed.  Bug is a good little “mommy” and is always taking toys away from Peanut that are on the smaller side or moving her from an area that could be potentially dangerous.  Peanut is not always happy about that, and she lets Buggy know!  But they love each other very much and as you can see, Peanut can go from laughing to screaming to laughing in about 15 seconds flat! :)

I forgot to get these pictures off my phone when I was blogging about our trip.  The condo has complimentary smores every night but we’ve never made it down before.  We usually go to all the evening dinner functions with T, but since we had Noni and Papa we skipped one this year, enabling us to do smores.  The girls loved it of course.

And this one was from the way home.  Peanut crashed within minutes and slept the entire way, only waking up when we arrived. 

She is so funny these days in the car.  She squeals until you hand her a toy and then as soon as she gets it, she drops it and says, “Uh-oh!”  It’s quite the entertaining game for her!  I’m sure we’ll get tired of it pretty fast, but for now she has four people who are happy to pick up her toys and keep the game going. :)

Rain and Bowling

Our weekend went a bit differently than we expected.  Apparently the weather people were playing a big joke on us because instead of the high 90’s and sunshine it poured almost all day on Saturday!  At 4am Saturday morning we woke up to a REALLY LOUD thunder storm!  We had plans to work in the yard, but obviously that didn’t happen.  It was a bit of a pain, but I was really feeling sorry for all the people camping this weekend!  Several of our friends went out, and it seemed like half the town headed for the lake on Friday. 

The girls had gone to Noni and Papa’s anticipating a day of mud fun, sprinklers and trampoline jumping, but they had to do other things.  Noni and Papa’s house is always fun! 

I made an interesting discovery while they were gone.  I am always telling them that they need to clean up their toys, yada, yada, yada, and always thinking to myself, Why do they make such a big mess all the time??  WELL.  I discovered that someone has been framing her older sisters for her dirty work! 

After the girls left I had picked up the floor and it was spotless.  By Saturday night, with only Peanut in the house, this is what it looked like…

That little turkey can make a MESS!  I think I’d better apologize to the other two!

On Sunday we went to church and then headed to town for some shopping and errands before meeting our friends at a bowling alley.  It was a little bit of organized chaos with 7 kids, 6 and under, but it was very fun!  We had a great time, and it was fun to catch up a little…as much as you can while corralling little ones into a small space! :)

Buggy was a little shy at first, crossing her arms after each throw.

But she got more bold as the time went on.

Boo was especially fond of little O.  She was following him around trying to redirect him back to the group.  :)

She was happy to let Daddy help her use the guide.

I thought she looked adorable in her little bowling shoes…the smallest size they had. :)

It’s supposed to be HOT this week!  We’ll see if it actually happens!
