Swimmin’ and Golfin’

Last week we were talking about how we hadn’t been to the lake a single time this summer!  We figured we’d better hurry up and go before we run out of time!  On Friday I packed up a picnic and all the lake stuff and as soon as T got of work we jumped in the car and headed toward the water.  It was almost 90 so the cold lake water was bearable and even refreshing once we got used to it.

After being on the beautiful, soft, sandy beaches of Florida our sand seemed more like gravel!  They couldn’t even really build anything with it since it is so pebble-like it doesn’t stick together. :P

We bought these tubes last winter at 75% off.  They are really snow tubes but the box said they could be used in water as well.  They worked just fine.

We had to take a break to have our pb&j picnic. :)

Then it was back to swimming.

The girls both wanted to jump off the dock but once they got out there they weren’t as excited about it.  K finally got up the nerve to jump onto the tube but flipped it and she went under.  She was NOT happy about that! :)

But she got over it.

The sun was sinking fast so we didn’t stay much longer, but it was a fun evening and I’m glad we at least got to the lake once this summer!

I’ve been trying to think of ways to give the girls individual time since they will soon have another sibling taking Mommy and Daddy’s attention.  The only good thing I’ve come up with so far is an individual sleepover once a month with Noni and Papa, and the other girl gets to have a special date with Daddy. 

Bug spent the night last week by herself and we took Boo to her restaurant of choice, McDonalds, where she got to play and eat chicken nuggets.  Then she and Daddy got ice cream on the way home.  Once we were home we only had an hour before bed so the three of us sat on the floor and played Zingo before reading books together in her bed.

Yesterday we took Boo to Noni’s for her sleepover and took K with us to town.  She chose Target for lunch, can’t beat their macaroni and cheese. :)  Then Daddy took her to the driving range!  He’s been talking about taking her golfing and he found an adorable set of munchkin clubs.  They just happen to be pink and say “Lady Bug” on the bag.  Perfect!  She was so excited when he gave them to her.  “Daddy bought me golfing STICKS!!!”  Haha :)

He told her how to hold the clubs and got her going…

…but we tried to let her work at her own pace.

She didn’t do half bad!  Hopefully this will be something they can continue to do together.

After golfing we hit Sonic, got take out from our favorite Thai place, and then came home to eat it while she and Daddy worked on their Legos.  I think she had a pretty fun day, and I think it’s good for her and Boo to be apart every now and then.  K mentioned her several times throughout the day and kept asking if we could buy her things.  So sweet.  I think it will be a good thing for them to have some one-on-one time once the baby comes, even if it’s only once a month.

The Spa

On Wednesday I got together with three of my high school girlfriends for a new experience…a spa!  I had never had a pedicure or manicure before and we got to do both!  It was definitely an experience!  The whole process was about 2 and a half hours and it was so fun and relaxing!  The fun part was getting to sit and catch up (kid free!) with my friends!  The relaxing part was having people wait on you literally hand and foot! :)

Our spa day was in lieu of a baby shower since K and I are both pregnant this summer (due within two weeks of each other!)  Instead of giving us a traditional shower, O and T took us to the spa…what a great idea! 

These two were both pregnant last summer!  So fun to be adding all these new babies to the group!

Thanks so much for the great time girls!!!  It was the perfect way to celebrate the new arrivals!  We’ll definitely have to do it again!

Baby Bump

We finally got some belly pictures!  Just a few, but at least we managed to get some before we ran out of time.  Noni came over this morning and took them for us.

I had fun playing around with the Picasa photo editor.  It’s amazing what a few clicks of the mouse will do to a picture!  So without further ado…

“Dat funny?”

Welcome to the first installment of funny sayings by Boo!  Whenever we laugh at something she says, she peers into our faces and says, “Dat funny?” and then laughs hysterically and usually repeats whatever she just said in an attempt to make us laugh again.  She has been saying some hilarious stuff lately, and is always making us laugh!

I started writing things down back in February so the first one is from quite a while ago.

February 16th

We were watching a LeapFrog show about letters and when it was the S’s turn a seal came out.  He was crying.  She looked at me, very worried and said, “Sad seal!  He need his mommy!”

March 4th

After dinner we had several options of activities before bedtime.  Daddy asked her, “Boo, do you want to take a bath or play Legos?”  Without missing a beat she replied, “Want eat ice cweam.”

March 5th

At breakfast I was telling the girls the plans for the day like I usually do when something I said must have been exciting because she said, in awe, “That mazing!”

March 21st

It was a Wednesday night (AWANA) so Noni had joined us for dinner.  Bug almost always goes early with her to help set up.  Boo told me, “Want go with Noni to set up church too!”  I wasn’t planning on going that night so I told her no, that we were staying home.  I was at the computer at the time and wasn’t paying her much attention, but then I noticed that she was walking away with her head down and her shoulders slumped.  I heard her say quietly, “Me pouting.”

March 22nd

We were in her room and she randomly started hitting her head against the bookshelf.  “What are you doing?!?” I asked, and she replied, “I donking my head.”

March 29th

At bedtime I came in to pray with her and T.  He was holding her and she had an arm around his neck.  When I got close she looped her other arm around my neck, squeezed our heads together, and said, “I yove you two guys!”

April 6th

One day she said she had to go potty so we went in and I put her on the toilet.  She looked at me and said, very primly, “I need pi-vacy Ma-Ma.”

April 18th

We were at the AWANA Grand Prix and my mom had entered a car for her.  Her car won several races in a row and one of my friends said to her, “S! You’re a beast!”  She looked very offended and said, “I not beast! I Belle!”

April 30th

We were on our trip, driving from Panama City to Orlando and were crossing a really long bridge.  We were amazed to see hundreds of pelicans: flying around, sitting on the bridge, and dive bombing into the water.  They were everywhere and we were pointing them out to the girls.  I guess she couldn’t figure out what we were so excited about because I know she could see the birds, but she said, “No can see!  I too yittle!” We kept trying to point them out, and she was very frustrated, “Need grow up so I can see!  I no grow up.  I no bigger!”

May 9th

It was Awards night at AWANA so my mom was in a hurry to get up to the church.  She picked K up and left quickly.  Boo, who knew we were going that night, was in her highchair finishing her dinner and when she heard the door close she looked up in shock and said, “Dose guys yeft me!”

Wedding Fun

It’s kind of funny that we haven’t been to a wedding in over three years and then we go to two of them within six days of each other!  Both were T’s cousins, but from different sides of his family. 

This wedding was two hours away, but we had some errands to run on Friday and were halfway there to start out.  We drove the final hour (plus two unscheduled potty stops) and made it just in time for the ceremony. 

When we first walked up we saw the guestbook. Cutest idea for a guest book I’ve ever seen!  There were four small canvases painted with a tree.  There were also a whole bunch of ink pads sitting there waiting. 

The guests put ink on their thumbs and then put their thumbprint on one of the tree branches.  So cute! 

The ceremony was short and sweet with a beautiful river as a backdrop.  The only picture I got was of the flower girl in her adorable poofy dress.

The wedding was held at the groom’s Aunt and Uncle’s lake (well, river, I guess) house.  It was gorgeous!  The flowers everywhere were so pretty and I loved all the little touches that made it special.

The girls were very excited about the cake table…or cupcake table I should say.

They had fun watching the wedding party.  It was a small wedding as far as guests go but they each had seven attendants so the wedding party was large.

We were at the table closest to the cake so we got a great view.

Bug was fascinated with the bride.  So sweet. :)

The girls had only asked me about ten times if they could have a cupcake so they were thrilled when it was finally time.  They both picked a strawberry shortcake one (so did I).  Grandma had a mint chocolate, Grandpa had oreo, and Daddy had peanut butter chocolate.  They were definitely gourmet cupcakes and it was definitely the best cupcake I’ve ever had!  The girls agreed. :)

We watched the bride and groom do all the traditions: bouquet toss, garter toss, first dances, etc.

Then the girls got out on the dance floor.

Brown-eyed Girl came on so Daddy got out there and danced with his two brown-eyed girls. :)

So sweet.

Boo had only had a 45 min. nap on the way up so she was crazy-hyper for most of the reception, and then hit the wall and collapsed into my lap at about 8. 

We made our goodbyes and got on the road at about 8:30.  K hadn’t had a nap earlier so she fell asleep right away, but S got a second wind and had a hard time falling asleep.  I think she finally gave it up around 9:30.  We pulled in at 10:30, carried them upstairs and put them straight in bed, still in their dresses.  It was a long night for them, but we had a fun time seeing the other side of the family and attending another beautiful wedding! 

Now we are officially done with events for the summer!  Hopefully we’ll be able to relax in these next few weeks and get a few things done before baby girl decides to make her appearance!  19 days and counting!

Almost There!

See that ticker above the title?!?  37 weeks!  “Baby is now the size of a watermelon!” Boy does that feel true!  For the past few weeks I have been getting increasingly uncomfortable. 

For some reason the third trimester has hit me the hardest this time around.  I was too excited to be miserable the first time I was pregnant, with Boo I was SOOO miserable for the first 7ish months and then at the end I suddenly got tons of energy and started feeling better.  I think I was expecting the same thing to happen this time, so it’s hit me by surprise. 

I HATE taking any kind of medication while pregnant or nursing.  I will tough it out as long as I possibly can and try every home remedy in the book, but I’ve finally had to cave on a few things.  I’ve started taking Zantac for heartburn…although I guess I haven’t caved completely because it would be very nice to take it twice a day (dr says I can) but I only take it in the evening so I can sleep (between the usual 4-6 trips, unfortunately not exaggerating, to the bathroom, that is).  The rest of the day I just try chewing gum, drinking milk, or if I’m desperate, Tums. 

I’ve also had to start taking Tylenol 3 when my fibroid becomes unbearable.  I’ve only had to take it 4 times, but three of those have been in the last week.  If I’m on my feet for more than a few hours in the morning or afternoon, by evening it’s hurting so bad I literally cannot walk around without doubling over.  This is definitely the worst it’s ever been which is interesting because it’s also a lot smaller this time.  With K it was 10 cm, with S it was 8cm, and this time it is only 4-5cm.

So I’m waiting.  Waiting for that nesting energy to kick in and get me through the next three weeks.  I have the nesting desire, but the energy to fulfill it isn’t there.  I have been tackling big projects anyway (will have to post pics of my closet remodel soon!), but I usually pay for it later.

Anyway, sorry for all the complaining…here’s a picture of 36 1/2 weeks.  Bug took it since Daddy wasn’t home.  I think she took a good dozen pictures and this was one of the only ones that wasn’t too blurry to see. Haha :)

I need to get a few maternity pictures soon! I should have done it a few weeks ago, but I keep forgetting.  Poor baby is already getting that 3rd-child-short-end-of-the-stick.  I had professional maternity pictures done with Bug, and with Boo my mom came over and we did our own little shoot.  We’ll try to get some pictures within the next week and get them up here!  Hope you all have a good weekend!

Celebrating

Buggy has been talking about weddings lately so she was thrilled to finally have the chance to observe one.  She drew multiple pictures for the bride and groom in the week leading up to the wedding.  She was so excited to be there!  Boo was happy too…until I asked her to sit still for a picture. :)

I look as huge as I feel in this picture!  I’m definitely getting very uncomfortable and ready to get the show on the road!  Three more weeks!

The girls were in awe of the cake.  It was pretty impressive!

Bug had so much fun playing with her cousins.  She adores her oldest cousin, S.

Boo occupied herself with unwrapping and eating the wedding favors and drinking water out of a “big giwl gwass”. :)

Then it was time for the main event.  It was a beautiful ceremony. Everything was gorgeous, especially the bride!

Boo enjoyed the wedding dinner…well mostly the fruit.  I had a hard time getting her to eat anything else. :)

The kids were so cute watching the bride and groom get their pictures taken.

We helped with the process of cleaning up while the kids were entertained with some baby sitters they’d hired.  They put on the movie Aladdin which Bug has seen before, but only with all the “scary” scenes fast-forwarded.  She was quite nervous to have to watch the whole thing and when I checked on her she was clinging to her cousin and biting her nails.

Boo didn’t want to sit still for the movie so she perused the toys with Waylon.

I finally called it quits at 9:30 and took the girls back to the hotel to get them in bed while everyone else stayed to finish cleaning up. 

The next morning the whole family, including the bride and groom, came over to the hotel and had breakfast with all the relatives that were staying there.  Bug was so excited to get to hug the bride and give her the pictures she’d worked so hard on.  So sweet. 

We did some visiting and then made our way home.  The trip back was just as successful as the way down and we were home in plenty of time for bed.  It was a beautiful wedding and I’m so glad we were able to go!  What a great weekend!
