Leftover Thursday

 Winter is always hard for me because where we live we can go weeks without seeing the sun. It's very unfortunate because less than ten minutes away our little weather pocket ends and they have sunny days all the time. Whenever I take the girls to school it will be socked in fog at our house and then halfway there we break through into the beautiful blue skies. This is a picture I took coming back home one day. You can see the wall of fog. 

 

 

And this was the view from the kitchen window that entire day. We can literally go for weeks living in 100 foot visibility. It does make us very grateful for any sun we get during the winter months though! I'm so glad it's almost Spring and we can leave the foggy days of winter behind!

 

 

The girls made a big fort one day with mazes inside. :) 

 

 

 

I can't remember if I shared this one already but I was very impressed with Peaches' drawing of Lou and Coco using only a white board marker! 

 

 

We have had a few warmer days lately and the girls have pulled out the soccer stuff to start practicing! 

 

 

I told the girls they could sprinkle a few chocolate chips on their peanut butter oatmeal so Lou went and got them but it was a new package and when she tried to open it there was an explosion. :P Unfortunately the stovetop was still quite warm so there was a big melty mess. 

 

 

They were playing store and this was Lou's grocery list. Fruit, bananas, grapes, cheese, bread, clothes, oranges, and beans. :) 

 

 

Lou got to do the offertory again. She played Amazing Grace. Noni got this picture but this was the Sunday I had to take Boo to her volleyball tournament so I wasn't there to take a video. Lou wasn't quite ready to play the song, but she really wanted to do it before Noni went to Texas. T said she struggled but Noni helped her finish it out.

Volleyball Awards!

 These pictures are pretty late but to be fair we did the awards pretty late too. :P A few weeks after volleyball ended we went up on a Saturday and spent two hours doing different drills and games that the girls do in practice. 

 

 

Some of them were very confusing for someone like me who is not very strong in volleyball anyway, haha. One game was like a real volleyball game except every time your team got the ball over the net you had to rotate so after one serve you might have to rotate three or four times during a volley, and depending on where you started you might be rotating in and out of the game altogether. My brain could not keep up. :P 

 

 

I was proud of myself for playing though when it's definitely not my forte. T dominated as usual. :) 

 

 

As did Boo, of course. :) 

 

 

Everyone had a lot of fun! 

 

 

Afterwards the coaches gave out awards and said nice things about each of the girls.  

 

 

Boo did an amazing job as a Co-Captain this year and got lots of praise! She also got the academic excellence award, and her Varsity letter. 

 

 

We are thankful for these great coaches who pour so much time, energy, and love into these girls!  

MS Basketball!

 Peanut decided to play Middle School basketball! And she's doing great! The only other time she has played basketball was in 1st grade so it's been a long time! She wasn't sure if she was going to play or not but she decided to go for it and I'm so glad she did. She definitely has some skills and now she's working on her experience.

 

 

Most of the kids are in the same boat, but we do have two 8th grade boys from her class that played with the high school this year so they are very experienced and score lots of points.  

 

 

The others are learning the flow of the game and what to do when...like where to stand during free throws. 

 

 

This was their first game and the other team was really good. This is one of the bigger schools.

 

 

Peanut got to shoot two free throws! She almost made them!

 

 

 

We ended up losing that one, but it was a great first game! 

 

Their next game was a home game and this team was much more on their playing field. The two really good boys didn't play for more than a few minutes so the rest of the kids stepped up and did a great job! 

 

 

The coach later told me that she was really proud of Peanut's defense. 

 

 

Peanut is a post. 

 

 

And she made two baskets this game!  

 

 

 

High fives!

 

 

 

They ended up winning 35 to 21! Whoo hoo! Mama got to come to this game so we were sitting on the floor over by the team.

 

 

 The next team they played was really good. There were only two girls on their team and the rest were experienced boys. Peanut thought they were going to get "cooked" but they ended up giving them a run for their money! 

 

 

They played so well! 

 

 

Peanut scored twice. 

 

 

They were actually winning during the fourth quarter for a few minutes, but the other team managed to squeak out the win. It definitely wasn't the game anyone was expecting and we were so proud of our team for giving it their all! 

 

 

Their fourth game they were the ones who "cooked" the other team. This team did not have a lot of experience or any big boys playing for them.  

 

 

Peanut got another bucket. 

 

 

I think most everyone on our team got at least one! They tried not to smash the other team but we ended up winning 44 to 8! 

 

 

Middle school is a very short season so they only have three games left and then the tournament but it's been great so far and Peanut is doing so well! I hope she decides to play basketball next year with Boo!

Bowling!

 Noni took us all bowling the other day! It was so much fun!

 

 

I don't know why we don't bowl more often because everyone loves it and had a blast! 

 

 Lou did a little devilish finger tap and "hee hee hee" whenever she had a good run. Haha. 

 

 

Love these girls!

 

 

The only bummer was that Bug wasn't able to come. :( She's had a really rough couple of weeks including a bout with pneumonia. :(

 This is the new bowling alley they put on base and it's really nice! The colors are so fun and the back "wall" is really a giant screen that would change every few minutes. This one was my favorite! It looked like an alley wall with the neon lights blinking on and off.

 

 

The little ones got bumpers and did really good! 

And the big girls did great too! We played 2 and half games and we were all on track to break a hundred the last game. 

 

 

For the first hour we had the place to ourselves and then the second hour one other group came.  

 

T is ready to join a bowling league. Haha. 

 

 

Lou was loving it.  

 

 

We all had a blast! 

 

 

 After we finished we grabbed some dinner together before heading home. Such a fun night!
