Decorating for VBS!

 We started decorating for VBS at the end of May. Noni spent hours and hours at the church! We joined her for some of those but I think she put in more hours than the rest of us combined! We had a couple of decorating "parties" with a bunch of people at church. The girls loved helping and hanging out with their friends!

 

 

The first week we decorated the hall, and the second week we started on the sanctuary.

 

 

Peanut made the throne. Here she is making sure the cardboard fit before covering it in gold paper.

 

 

We stayed for 6 hours one day and I ran to the store and got us pizza for dinner. It was the day before Ty's birthday and he loved pizza so we always try to eat some around his birthday in remembrance. 

 

 

Here's how the hall turned out. I love it! Noni made all of the "stained glass windows" and they are so bright and fun!

 

 

Lou and Peaches ran around with the other little siblings and had a ball.

 

 

They took my phone at one point and later I found a few funny pictures like this.

 

 

These are my friend R's boys. They live far away so we rarely get to see them, but they were visiting and came up to the church.

 

 

Noni made the fun chandeliers out of toilet paper, cardboard, and black paper chains. So clever!

 

 

Peanut gets to do face painting this year so she spent the weeks before VBS practicing. Here are a few of her designs.

 

 

Peanut and I went up to church and did the balloon arch on Saturday.

Noni had such a great vision for the church and was able to give us clear direction so we could run with it.

 

 

The girls did a great job helping where they could.

 

 

Boo and R decorated the preschool room.

 

 

And Bug did some amazing "stained glass" windows with tape and paint all over the church. They were all so pretty!

Banquet!

 The day of the soccer tournament was also the same day as Bug's school banquet so we ran home after the games and I got her hair all fixed and helped her with her makeup. 

We didn't get to see them all dressed up because as a junior she was in charge of setting everything up so they had to go a couple hours early and left in their sweats. Thankfully she sent me these pictures that someone took for them later when they were getting ready.

 

 

F found this outfit that perfectly matched her green dress!

Bug was nervous because she had to give a speech for her best friend A who is a senior, but F said she did a great job. I can't believe she's going to be a senior herself next year!!

Wordless Wednesday

 

Tournament!

Tournament weekend finally arrived and we were not super excited to find out we had two games at 8am, BUT we were happy that we didn't get the 7am game like some of the teams! F and Noni joined us for the day so we had a big cheering section for our soccer players!

 

 

Lou was up first. They played hard and made a good comeback after halftime but ended up losing by a couple points and getting knocked out of the tournament.

 

 

Boo and Peanut had started playing their game a little into hers so we watched both as best as possible and then switched to their field as soon as we could.  

 

 

They played hard but ended up losing. Since their age group had so few teams they got to play a second game later.

 

 

 

 

After that game we moved to the end of the field for Peaches' game. T volunteered to ref for it. She played hard and learned so much this season! I think they had only lost one game the whole season, but they lost this one which knocked them out of the tournament. :(

 

 

Lou stole someone's CapriSun. :P

 

 

The little ones played on the playground while we waited for the next game.

 

 

Then it was time for our final game of the day. The little sisters set up camp with some coloring.

 

 

Noni got this picture...Boo and Peanut are both in the background.

 

They played really hard this game and Peanut scored two goals!

 

 

Boo got to play forward and did a great job!

 

 

And they won! So they got 3rd place in the tournament. Way to go!!

 

 

 

They loved getting to play with their friends!

Abraham Lincoln

 Peaches wrote her first research report! She spent several weeks doing lessons: learning how to write each part of a report, doing the research, putting it all together, revising, and then publishing. She chose to write about Abraham Lincoln and did a great job! Here is her report.
