AWANA Awards Night

 I feel like this year went really fast! The end of AWANA came up quick. I borrowed a friend's craft punches and made these tags for the worker appreciation gifts this year. I thought they turned out really cute!

 

 

We are so proud of Buggy for doing such an amazing job in Cubbies! She is so good with that age and the teachers were so happy to have her. One of them told me later how impressed she was that Bug always had a song or game ready to go to keep the little Cubbies on track and entertained. Great job Bug!

 

 

Lou had a blast in Cubbies this year. She just loves it! She technically was too little to go this year so she still has her two years left to do, and yay hooray...Noni is going to be her teacher next year! We are so excited to have her back!!!!

She was so excited about this ribbon and pumped her little fist in the air saying, "Mommy I WON!" over and over. :) 

 

 

Peaches did an awesome job this year as well! She moved up to Sparks with no problem! She finished her book the second to last week and we are proud of her working hard and doing a good job! One of the other moms was telling me that her son (also a Kindergartner) was always a little nervous to go and E just welcomed him and made sure he was included each week. So sweet!

Peanut and Boo both finished their books and had a wonderful time this year! They have lots of friends and Awana is one of their favorite nights of the week!

Pastor J got up and praised his teen workers. They make Awana so much nicer, filling in where needed, listening to verses, and helping with the little ones. We are so thankful for a group of strong, God loving teens!

 

 

It is hard to believe but Boo has graduated from lower Awana! This was her last year in T&T and next year she will be moving up to Trek! Pastor J did a little graduation ceremony for them and ushered them across the front to join the teens. Boo is now one of the big kids! Next year they are going back to doing book work for part of the night and then helping out for the last half hour.

 

 

Peanut got the Excellence award for finishing her second T&T book!

 

 

And Boo got the Timothy award for finishing all four T&T books! Her goal is to finish all the Trek and Journey (high school) books as well so she can get the illusive Citation award. This was my tenth year working in Awana and I have only seen one person receive it in that time. I have no doubt that she can do it, but it is going to take some hard work over the next six years! 

 

 

 We are proud of our girls! Another year of Awana in the books!

Testing

 Boo and Peanut had to do their state testing for the Spring. I was thinking SAT's are going to be no problem for them since they are used to doing this every year! They love it since Noni always volunteers to take them and they get to spend two nights at her house and have a little vacation!

 

 

They were laughing at this duck with his bum in the air looking for his breakfast. 

 

 

 They got to eat lunch at our favorite little sandwich shop that we rarely get to go to because it's far away and only open for lunch. I may have been slightly jealous. Haha.

Peanut got to see her teacher again which she loved!

 

The funny thing is we JUST got their scores from the Fall testing (that was done to catch up from not testing because of Covid the year before). Peanut scored highest in ELA and Boo scored highest in Science although they were both did well in all subjects.

Leftover Thursday

 Boo spends less time upside down these days, but still much more than the average person. Haha. 

 

 

She has her split down and is working on her oversplit now.

 

 

Playing puppies.

 

 

Speaking of puppies. Jax loves to be cold...even if that means sitting out in the snow long enough to get covered. :P We had lots of snow days in April. Nothing ever stuck around long, but many days we woke up to white ground that melted off by afternoon.

 

 

Noni told the little ones how she and Aunt K used to sit in the closet and read with their flashlight and giggle so they wanted to try it.

 

 

Peanut, Peaches, and I have a new routine where we play a game or two when Lou goes down for a nap. Usually Rumikub, Trouble, or Skipbo. Here's one day.

 

 

And another. If I'm really feeling brave we'll play Frozen monopoly which is really helping Peaches' math skills, but takes hours!

Wordless Wednesday

 

Flamingo Party!

 Bug chose a flamingo theme for her party and we had lots of fun decorating with it!

 

 

We got a cute party set off of Amazon.

 

 

 

And she made an adorable cake!! I think the cake was the inspiration for the party. She had seen it in a magazine. I loved how it turned out!

 

  

 

I decided it would be fun to have a Bunco tournament for her and her friends! Unfortunately it was a busy weekend with a couple of them out of town and some with family in town so they couldn't make it, but with her sisters we were still able to have two tables.

 

 

I looked up all the rules and even watched a video online of how to play, but apparently I missed some important details. T came in from working outside and said, "Wow they are really quiet." Then he figured out we weren't playing the game correctly and showed us how to do it right. :P

 

 

After that it was more lively.

 

 

I guess it was supposed to be a race.

 

 

But I think they still had fun. :)

 

 

At one point it was a sister table...you change tables and partners based on winning or losing a round.

 

 

After Bunco they went upstairs and played air hockey, ping pong, and Apples to Apples while I got dinner ready.

 

 

I had fun making an appetizer bar.

 

 

And since it was a smaller group they fit around the table perfectly. 

 

 

 

 

Later we did cake and presents. 

 

 

 

 

She got lots of sweet gifts and almost all of them were in the Hawaiian theme...lotions, face masks, bath salts, etc. 

They watched Aladdin and F got to spend the night and come to church with us the next day. 

 

 

It was a fun day celebrating our Buggy girl!
