Amarillo By Evening

On Saturday morning we woke up and started packing the cabin. Once we got our stuff packed I took the girls for a walk so Noni, Aunt Karen, and Daddy could close up the cabin (winterize it). Peaches didn't want to go to day care, but she did want to play on the toys so we headed that way since everyone was cleared out.

 

I think this is actually the 3&4 year old's playground. The 1&2's side was locked. They had fun on the play equipment and in the sandbox.

 

I have a picture of Buggy right here when she was Peaches age so she wanted another. 

  

I couldn't find the picture when I looked, but you can just see Peaches...it's pretty much what Buggy looked like! I'm loving that Peaches hair is coming in curly like Buggy's was! I hope it stays that way for a while!

It was hot so they didn't last to long at the the playground. We headed back, but the cabin wasn't finished so we went for a walk. Peaches had discovered that week that she liked walk with a stick, dragging it and stopping every few feet to make a mark or two in the dirt. :)

While we were getting the last minute things packed up I discovered that Peaches had climbed into the car...she found someone's discarded gum in an old wrapper and had been picking it out and eating it. Lovely. Then she climbed up in the front and was preparing to drive away.

For the life of my I can't remember what Peanut was showing me here. Lol.

It was so hard to say goodbye to Aunt Karen. Peaches was already buckled when we took this picture and she started crying and screaming, "AUNT KAREN! AUNT KAREN!" So sad!

Thankfully we had a short day of drivimg (about 6 hours) and were able to get to the hotel with plenty of time to swim.

Noni sweetly volunteered to put the girls to bed so we could go out to dinner. There was a Buffalo Wild Wings in the parking lot so we tried it. Not bad. Apparently the girls put Peaches to bed...in Peanut's bed.

She loves "sleeping" in anyone's bed but her own. Makes me wonder if she would actually fall asleep there if we let her! Maybe transitioning from the crib won't be too bad!

We really weren't able to afford the time away from the Farmhouse, but I'm so glad we made the effort and went on this trip! Wonderful memories were made, and it was our last trip as a family of 6!

Goodbyes

On the last morning of camp Uncle A used his nice camera to get some good pictures for us. 2 1/2 must be the age of the hand in the mouth. If you don't get one doing it...

 

 You get the other. Haha!

Family pic! Buggy's knee looks really bad. It was actually just a bad scrape/rug burn type thing (except she did it in the dirt), but they get so dirty at day camp that the nurse wrapped it really well to keep it clean. 

Headed off to "Cowboy" camp! The last day of day camp they bring in real cowboys on horses and show the kids how to rope and brand. They love it!

Since Peaches is not used to day care we kept her with us all week instead of sending her to the toddler class in the mornings. T tried one time to take her over there. He said she got about two feet in the room and clung to his leg like a frightened monkey. We either took turns going to the different bible studies or let her sit and play on a blanket just outside the tabernacle.

  

Each of the kids came back with a branded piece of wood from cowboy camp.

It was so great to spend time with these guys! 

  

We said goodbye to Pawpaw after lunch. :( 

  

And got one more snowcone from the concession stand. I think Peanut had about a dozen that week. :P They get one at day camp, and any time we went to the concession stand she got another. I know she had three one day when they did the mock day camp in the afternoon to show the parents how it worked.

 

After naptime we headed to town to have dinner at a little Mexican food restaurant. Uncle A, Auntie K, the boys, and Aunt J had been staying at an Airbnb place in town since there wasn't room for all of us in the cabin. That night we went to their place after dinner and hung out for a couple more hours. They had a great yard with several play sets!

Noni and Auntie K tried to teach the little ones how to play Duck Duck Goose.

It was loosely interpreted. Haha!

Boo and Peanut taught Cousin M how to play Ring Around the Rosie. Love these pictures A got.

We got to Skype with Uncle S and Aunt J. We were so sad they couldn't come but understood...Uncle S just got a great job at a Dallas law firm! Whoo hoo! Way to go S!

T loves babies and babies and kids always love him!

It was such a beautiful evening to sit around and talk. It was so hard to make ourselves leave!

The goodbyes are definitely the hardest part of a great trip, but we are so thankful for the time that we got together and the wonderful new memories made!!!
