Wordless Wednesday

4th of July!

We spent the 4th as we always do…at the farm! There were cousins and swimming and fireworks and good food…all the ingredients for a perfect holiday weekend!

Grandma was prepared for the 100 degree weather with a new pool and slip and slide! The kids had so much fun on this thing!

Peanut just ran back and forth on it and sometimes plopped to her knees at the end. :)

I wish I had gotten a video of Waylon and his boy cousin on the other side (Waylon has exactly 4 girl cousins and 1 boy cousin on both sides!) diving into this pool. It was hilarious.

The guys spent nearly every waking minute working on the boat.

Auntie Nae had several crafts for the kids, including making paper dolls! They loved it!

Uncle Wade taught the kids the find art of “Poppers”. They loved that too! :)

One of the highlights was frosting sugar cookies. They were so excited!

The finished product…

The little ones loved to play in the boat while the guys were working. T went to move it out of the sun for them and they were sitting in the front seat. As soon as they started moving Boo gasped, “Mommy! Does this have airbags??” Haha :)

Not sure what K was telling Baby M here, but she looks a little disconcerted. Haha :)

We had the big annual BBQ with family and friends and with all the traditional foods and desserts. Peanut enjoyed the Hello Dolly’s this year!

T took this picture and it made me laugh!

The kids ran around playing games on the lawn while waiting for the sun to go down.

We started off with some sparklers.

We have had so little rain and the fire danger is so high that we kept them small this year, but the kids still enjoyed them.

And we ended the day with a bang, as every 4th of July should.

We have had an insane couple of weeks! From June 2nd to July 15th the girls and I did not spend a full 24 hours in our house/town. We had something going every day and/or night.

I blogged about our waterpark trip…we went straight from that to the farm (where we spent 3 out of 4 weekends in June and early July) so T and his dad could work on restoring the old boat.  After a LOT of work it’s running GREAT! It’s a beautiful boat too…I’ll have to get some pictures up. It’s 37 years old but is in awesome shape.

After that weekend at the farm we came home and met Auntie Karen at the airport the next day! She got to stay for a little over two weeks and the girls were in heaven!

They logged MANY hours on the trampoline!

Read tons of books, played games…saw how many people they could fit in a hammock swing. :)

We got to take her to the lake on one of our homeschool days! The weather has been hot and gorgeous!

We shared a picnic lunch.

And did lots of swimming and sand castles building.

The next morning we got up and headed to the farm again! This time for the 4th of July. Pictures from that tomorrow.

Leftover Thursday

I got all of Noni’s pictures from the summer so far so I have some leftover pictures. These are some VBS ones taken by the official photographer for that week. She got all my little snacks.

She wanted me to pose with them. :)

My friend drew this sign out and then I painted it for her on our decorating day. She had the idea to have Peanut put her little footprints at the bottom. So cute.

Trail Mix Butterflies.

Butter and Jelly butterflies (too many kids with PB allergies). I did the butterfly cookie cutter and it was as tedious as you might imagine! I think it took about 2 hours to make enough for 60 kids plus workers!

Bible memorization.

Craft time!

These last ones are from Noni’s lesson. She had a black starting point (sin) and the kids had to see how far they could jump to the yellow end (heaven). No matter how far the farthest kid could jump, they still couldn’t make it all the way to heaven.

Then Noni laid down these boards that said the scripture I am the way the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. John 14:6 Once that was laid down all the kids could get across.

Such a great visual for them! No matter how good we are and no matter how hard we try we just can’t make it to heaven on our own! But Jesus doesn’t exclude anyone! Far from it. He longs for each one of us to come with Him.

It’s so simple that even a child can understand. The bible says Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved. Acts 16:31 Simple, but not easy to relinquish that control and allow Him to be the bridge that allows us to get there.

For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16
