Last Day

These first pictures are a bunch of Noni's and not necessarily from the last day...

breakfast.

Poor Noni came down with a bad head cold and fever and actually had to spend an entire day in bed. :{ We felt so bad for her not only missing a full day of camp, but it's extra hard to be away from home when you aren't feeling good. She took this from her bunk when we stopped to check on her.

 Reading in the hammock.

Everybody loves the hammock swings.

And they're good for doing tricks. :)

Bug took this of the tabernacle on the last night of church.

We had several game nights. We taught Uncle S and Aunt J a card game and because of Aunt J's generosity he won two of the three rounds, haha. The last night we played dominoes and Aunt Karen creamed us. :)

We headed to breakfast the last day and found the most beautiful bell I've ever seen! We heard later that two groups had actually painted that night. I felt bad for the ones that got covered up but this one was seriously impressive!

And this was the back! Amazing!!!

They did leave the middle that the other group had done...I thought this was such a sweet idea...it said at the top "Write your favorite camp memory" and they hung Sharpies on strings for people to use. So clever! The girls all wrote something down. Peaches wrote, "Seeing my cousins." :)

Last breakfast!

It was just our family in the cabin this year...I felt kind of guilty that we got it all to ourselves but it was really nice to spread out and have two bathrooms! The little ones slept in the back room and the rest of us were in the front.

A lot of people left after breakfast. The big girls took the little ones to the rocks and we were able to get most of the cabin packed up. Then we went over to missionary hour and finished closing out the cabin during bible study. We were able to make it to the last church service.

The girls came back from day camp covered with dust like usual. Thankfully I had saved out an extra change of clothes. We hosed them down as best we could and actually threw Lou and Peaches shoes in the trash before we left! I had brought old shoes and it was a good thing because they were falling apart and filthy by the end of the week. Lou does a lot better than she used to but still gets her shoes on the wrong feet occasionally. :P

Goodbye camp and family! We miss you so much already!

Can't wait to be together again!

Dodgeball!

Apparently last year the boys had all played in the camp dodgeball tournament and loved it so they talked the girls into joining them this year. I think Peaches has played before at AWANA but Lou never has and really had no idea what dodgeball was so we tried to explain the game to her.

Cousin R, Daddy, and Uncle A rounded out their team: The Lizards. :)

They got to watch a couple of other teams play and get a feel for the game.

We had a pretty good cheering section for them! Go Lizards!

I was super impressed with how brave the girls were!

They went right out there and played tough!

One by one they went down until it was only Peaches and Lou left. Daddy subbed in and tried to help, but the floor was covered with dust and he slipped and got out. Several people fell hard...they really need one of those big mops for gym floors.

I was super proud of the girls and how well they played!

I thought I would have more time between matches since there were 16 teams in a double elimination tournament so I ran back to the cabin to get water and missed their second game. I guess Lou got hit right in the face, but was really brave and didn't cry! They had just finished when I got back and were ready to hit the consolidation concession stand. :)

Aunt J bought them all Sno-cones!

Thank you Aunt J!

Way to go Lizards! We are proud of you!

Goodbyes

Thursday morning we met up for breakfast...

and had to say goodbye to Uncle S and Aunt J. They actually ended up getting to stay an extra day so we were thankful for the time we had with them but it was still hard to say goodbye!

We are so blessed to be part of such an amazing place where God and family come first and we can put aside the cares of the world and come together as a community of believers for a week.

The kids were excited to see that the bell got painted again; this time in a patriotic theme.

 Cheese!

Another rock climbing session before day camp!

Peanut helped little J climb some smaller rocks.

Pearly White, reporting for day camp! :)

Ready to party on with her purple people.

This was Peanut's last year at day camp. :( Well, technically she should have gone to the Middle school group this year but since she missed her last year of day camp in 2023 we asked if she could go, and they let her.

Her group was the Bloopers...Blue-pers? I was glad she got to one last year of day camp and she had fun with her third cousin, H, who was in that group too!

I tried something new this year and joined the choir with Boo. Peaches and Lou were NOT happy that I wasn't there to put them to bed at night but they managed with Daddy just fine and it was kind of fun to sing with the choir.

My worship team experience is definitely not on the same level as a Southern Baptist church choir member, but I managed to not mess up too badly, haha. Boo and I got a kick out of one of her pieces of music. I don't know who Elvin is but we were supposed to watch out for him I guess!

Tomorrow: Dodgeball Tournament!

The Rocks!

T took the big girls to the rocks the first afternoon when they went over to get something from Uncle K at their RV.

I can't believe how grown up this girl is getting!

All of them are growing up so fast.

I accidentally took the little girls to the big rocks a few days later...Bug and Boo were supposed to sign up the little ones to play dodgeball but they had forgotten so after lunch Wednesday we walked over there to sign up and then Peanut and Bug begged me to go up.

I always loved the rocks as a kid and thought it was the coolest, but as a parent it's mostly just terrifying to climb a mountain of rocks with 20-30 foot dropoffs all over the place. :P

King of the mountain!

This was Lou's first time through "Fat Man's Misery".

I was still able to fit through but it's definitely a lot tighter than I remember as a kid, haha.

They were pretty proud of themselves for making it to the other side.

And up to the saddle!

Bug got up above Fat Man's at one point.

I don't know if it is just the wear from dozens of people climbing, but the rocks were also a lot more slippery than I remember. They were almost smooth in spots...which makes for a good slide. I told the girls to be careful here because I remember ripping a hole in my shorts in this same spot when I was a kid.

We made it and no one fell or broke a bone! Haha. They wanted to go again the next day but I told them to stick to the little rocks for the rest of the week. :)
