The Cowboys!

 One of the nights of camp we got to go to a baseball game! When T saw that it wasn't going to be "so dad gum hot" (lol) he started looking at options for things to do and of course he landed on baseball! It was only $10 a person so one night some of us headed in for a game!

 

 

I wasn't going to be able to take the little ones because the game didn't start until 7 but luckily T stopped by to ask about the game and they had gotten rained out the night before so they were going to start at 5 to finish that game!

 

 

It was us, Noni, Aunt Karen, and Uncle S.

 

 

 

This was Lou and Peaches' first baseball game. Lou was pretty interested for a while.

 

 

And was working really hard on her air guitar technique. :)

 

You could tell that this was a lower playing bracket because the players had to do all the maintenance on the field. It was sweet to watch them working so hard to get the field in shape between games.

 

 

I think the girls' favorite part was the stadium food, including cotton candy, haha, but we enjoyed watching and cheering on the Cowboys! And they won! 

 

 

 

Later in the week the team came out to serve lunch! I guess they use some of the cabins to stay in during their Spring training. Peaches was so excited to see them and asked if she could get their autographs. They were all super sweet to her and flattered that she asked them. :)

 

 

Hopefully we'll get to go to another game the next time we're down there! 

Camp Fun!

This was the coolest camp week that T has ever been too so he was super happy. He hates being hot so Texas in July is not usually his cup of tea, but this year was perfect! The first day was the hottest but after that it was in the low 70's in the mornings and stayed in the low 80's through the day.

 

 

Lou made fast friends with one of her camp leaders and kept talking about her so I grabbed a picture when I dropped her off the second day. :) She was a "Pearly White" with white feathers in their headbands.

 

 

Peaches' group was the "Purple Party People".

 

 

Little J was so funny...it was like a game to see who would win the J lottery at the lines for meals. He would look around at all the tall people and pick who the lucky winner was that got to hold him. And then sometimes he would launch himself at another person. The girls all clamored to hold him.

 

 

Lou got a lesson in Mule driving that day. Daddy let her drive us all over camp. She was SO proud of herself! Thanks Uncle K for bringing your Mule and letting us use it! 

 

 

At one point we ended up at the gym and stopped at the concession stand. Bug had gone to town with Noni and Aunt Karen so she missed out on popscicles. 

 

 

On our way back to the cabin we saw a white car coming towards us and T said, "Is that Noni?" Then the window rolled down and a phone popped out to take a picture and Boo and I said, "Yep!" Haha! 

 

  

 

We do appreciate the pictures you take Noni! Especially me because I'm always the one taking the picture. :)

 

Later was more bug hunting...the kids said that one kid brought a tarantula to the critter race! And another kid brought a bat! Yikes. :P

 

 

It's pretty amazing how dirty the kids get at camp. They come back from day camp looking like they've been rolling in the dirt...which apparently sometimes they do. :P They took turns in the tub since they're too big to fit together anymore.

 

 

The next morning our bell was painted over. We all agreed this was the prettiest, girliest bell we'd ever seen! 

 

 

 Another afternoon of bug hunting...

 

 

And dominoes and corn hole! Uncle K made this set!

 

 

 

 And this day we got snacks from the "real" concession stand. Getting snacks from this concession stand is definitely a core memory for me. It was such a big deal for us to go get something in the afternoons...highlight of camp for sure!

 

 

I made them order for themselves.

 

 

The big girls don't need the little stairs anymore.

 

 

But little J does. Even on his tippy toes he could barely see. So sweet.

 

 

We stopped off at the water fountain.

 

 

And sat to enjoy our treats.

 

 

Another wonderful day at camp!

First Day!

 Breakfast is the best meal of the day at camp! So much so that it's worth getting up at our 4:30AM! At least I think so...I'm not sure if the girls agreed. Haha.

 

 

The girls accommodated me by wearing their Christmas sweatshirts. :)

 

 

And we got a cousin picture while waiting in line. 

 

 

There are so many of us we can't fit at one table anymore!

 

 

It's so fun to see a new generation enjoying camp the way we always did.

 

 

J did a good job on his breakfast.

 

 

All the kids wanted to do between breakfast and day camp was climb the rocks.

 

 

Lou technically should have still been in the Kindergarten room in the nursery building but we asked if she could go to day camp with cousin S and they let her so she got to be a big 1st grade day camper! The little blonde cutie is my second cousin's son so I think that makes him her third cousin? And S is her second cousin, but we just told them they were all cousins to avoid the confusion. :)

 

 

They had a great morning at day camp while we were at missionary hour, bible study, and church. After lunch we played with the kids in the main cabin for a while. 

 

 

S and E had a game of land the plane in the hammock going.

 

 

While D and M played volleyball with Noni and Aunt Karen.

 

 

Then the kids went bug hunting to try and catch a contestant for the critter race the next day. 

 

 

Uncle A came back from dropping off the nappers and drove us out Indian Mounds in the Mule. 

 

 

It was a really weird day. It had been overcast and this creepy mist was swirling around the mountains. We felt a few sprinkles but it never started raining.

 

 

We showed the kids how this was a spot where the Indians used to camp and how they ground their corn into the ground making natural bowls.

 

 

S decided that we should stay out there forever and become Indians. M saw some deer poop and said we could find food, we just needed a shelter. :)  

 

These four are just wild enough that they could probably do it. Haha. 

 

 That night the grandmas babysat for us and we got to go on a date night! A lot of places were closed since it was a Monday but one of the hotels in a town not far was open for dinner. This is where they shot and old movie with Rock Hudson and Elizabeth Taylor. They had big framed pictures of them on the movie set everywhere.

 

 

 

It was a neat hotel with a pretty courtyard. 

 

 

And we had a fun dinner out!
