VBS! - Part 4

 Friday was face painting day!

 

 

Peanut did such an amazing job! She is quite the talented artist. Way better than I could do.

 

 

Last day and Lou was still stuck to L. Haha.

 

 

 

 Fridays snack was take up your sword! Pretzels dipped in white chocolate with a peach ring "hilt". :)

 

 

 

This was Lou's favorite craft of the week. She was so proud of her cross and told me, "Mommy I never knew I was so good at yarn-ing! I love yarn-ing, it's so fun!" :)

Such an amazing VBS this year!! God truly blessed it.

 

 

It's always hard to say goodbye to friends after a week of being together, but we have lots of fun new memories to keep with us! 

 

 

 

On Sunday Boo and Ms A dressed up again and all the kids led us in VBS songs for services.

What a wonderful week of VBS! We're already looking forward to next year!

VBS! - Part 3

 I want to say Thursday was the hit of the week, but I don't know what the kids like better...petting zoo, obstacle course, or face painting! Noni really knocked it out of the park last year with her idea of adding 30 minutes to VBS to get a special activity slot in for everyone. The obstacle course was a super fun day! 

The girls had to test it out first thing in the morning when we got there.

 

 

So much fun!

 

 

The lesson for the day was learning how to spot red flags in your life that could lead to sin so it was an easy snack day. R and I made all the cupcakes the day before so all we had to do was frost them and stick in a red flag.

Peanut's job for the day was to monitor the obstacle course and make sure they took turns...and she had to go rescue little ones that got stuck inside. Haha.

 

 

It was a blast!

 

 

 Peaches made a new best friend. She and this girl were inseparable.

VBS! - Part 2

 The second day of VBS started out super exciting...a pony and her baby walked into the church! The kids were thrilled!

This was definitely a first to have horses inside the church. Haha.

 

 

It was the preview to petting zoo day!  And just like last year it was a huge hit! There were ponies, goats, and a llama.

 

 

The baby pony was adorable!!

 

 

R and I made rice crispy castles. The kids got to pull the castle apart to get a piece.

I guess I was busy that day because that's all the pictures I got. Thursday we did torches! This was the cutest, but most impractical snack. They looked adorable, but it was WAY too much sugar. It was marshmallows inside a waffle cone, with frosting on top.

 

 

 

I am not a huge fan of working with frosting, but luckily Peanut is and she stayed and helped me that day because R was filling in at games since her brother had to be gone. Peanut did a GREAT job and did the frosting on almost all of the 175 torches! We had 50+ helpers each day so that put our snack count at about 175.

My favorite thing at VBS is listening to the kids shouting praise music. I love it.
 

 

 

On Wednesday after VBS the girls had their bath and then some quiet time since they were getting a little tired and cranky. I went in later and found Lou zonked out with her heater on full blast. Her legs were red from sitting in front of it so long. Whoops.

VBS! - Part 1

 VBS started off with a bang!

We ended up having 140 different kids attend throughout the week, and our biggest day was 127! 

Boo, R, and Ms A were the emcees this year and they did a great job! Ms A was Queen Annabelle, R was the Countess, and Boo was Princess Scarlett. They did skits every day, led all the songs, and helped Pastor S with the mission fund raiser. They did such a great job!!

 

 

In past years I have known all the kids that come to VBS, but this year I didn't know half of them! We had so many kids I'd never seen before. Lots of new faces to hear about Jesus!

 

 

Day 1 was dirt and worms, but we named it Moat Monsters to go with our castle theme. This is the all time favorite VBS snack so I always have to find a way to incorporate it.

 

 

 

This was Lou's first year out of the preschool room! And the first time ever that we haven't had a girl in the preschool room. She was a little nervous but was happy to be carried around by Peanut's friend L who was one of her helpers.

 

 

Peanut was a filler this year. This was her first year to work so she filled in at several different places. Monday she helped with the special activity which was a science experiment, Tuesday she helped with games, Wednesday she helped me in the kitchen, Thursday she did the special activity which was the obstacle course, and Friday she did face painting! She did such a good job with each of her assignments! We were proud of how hard she worked.

 

 

 

She was also in charge of making, setting up, and running this game where the kids "jousted"down their sins. 

 

 

She filled these containers with pebbles, wrote a sin on the inside like lying, fighting, complaining, etc. and then hot glued them together.

 

 

When Boo finished up her emcee job in the mornings she quickly changed and headed out to games where she was a leader. I went outside and saw these two together.

The teenagers did a great job with the games for the kids and even tried a few new games that were a big hit!

R was my helper this year since Bug was in Africa! Noni grabbed a picture of us delivering snacks.

 

 

 

After games Boo rushed back into her costume for the closing. This year the mission was to raise money to dig wells in India. Pastor D is our missionary there and he can dig a well for only $1,400.

Here's a tiny snippet of what it's like when the kids do the money at the end. I didn't get the fever pitch parts because I was too busy covering my ears. :P Those kids can really scream!

I had a few extra puddings at the end of the day so Peaches was happy to dispose of one. :)
