Resort!

 Right after our VBS Sunday we headed out on a little road trip for our Resort-cation! Daddy had left early that morning and got in a round of golf with some work buddies. Bug and Boo stayed with Noni because they started their staff training for camp that Monday so it was just me and the younger three. I found this on my phone later. :)

We made it all the way with no stops...it's so nice that they're getting older! Daddy was still golfing and then had to go straight to a meeting from 5-6 so we checked in and hit the pool right away! 

 

 

They swam for about an hour.

 

 

The weather was perfect!

 

 

There were so many duck and geese babies this year! We saw dozens! 

 

 

They are kind of hard to see but these are the duck babies. 

 

 

We got an awesome room this year! It was right on the beach...we could walk out our slider, cross 10 feet of grass and then our feet hit the sand! 

 

They got dried off and into jammies, and spent some time checking themselves out in the mirror. Haha.

 

 

We headed to our favorite little cafe for breakfast (dinner of pancakes). The girls and I had hit Walmart on the way for breakfasts, lunches, and snacks and I let them have a pair of sunglasses. :)

 

 

After dinner we walked around the resort and saw some more ducklings.

 

 

And then stopped at an ice cream shop.

 

 

It was the perfect start to our mini-vacation! 

Floors!

 Grandma and Grandpa got new floors! Since it was the same kind of flooring we put into our house we went down for a Saturday to help Grandpa get them in. Here is the before picture.

 

 

Grandpa cut, Boo was a runner, Bug was a placer, and T and I put them together.

 

 

Grandma got out her pretty bowl so the little ones could "float" the flowers like the big girls used to do when they were little. :)

 

 

They had fun visiting and playing while we got the floors down.

 

 

 

 We ended up having a problem about 1/3 of the way through and had to re-do it but we were still able to get the main living room done before leaving that day! 

 

 

I thought they turned out beautifully! 

 

 

 

Grandpa did the dining room and all the finish work that week and we got to see the results when we went for the 4th of July so I'll show a true "after" picture then!

VBS! - Part 3

 I think this picture was from earlier in the week...it's all the preschoolers and their helpers during games.

 

 

Thursday the special activity was incredible! It was "Race to Victory Mountain" and Noni actually rented a 60 foot inflateable obstacle course! The kids LOVED it of course and had SO much fun!! We went early that morning and the girls got to test it out before every else.

 

 

 

This thing was well enjoyed! I think every kid went on it multiple times.

 

 

 We stayed for an extra hour that day to enjoy it to the fullest before it got picked up.

 

 

 

So much fun!

 

 

 

Another cool thing about VBS is that Ms. C wanted to make shirts for everyone but it was a lot of money to make that many. God must have wanted us to have them though because money started to just show up without her even asking people! She collected over a thousand dollars and made every worker and attendee a shirt!!

 

 

 A few of us got ours on Thursday and threw them on but then everybody wore them Friday. 

They had a contest to see who could memorize all of Psalm 23 and these are the kids who did it...way to go Peanut!

 

 

 

Friday was a sea of neon green!

 

 

 

It was also...

It was a lot of work but the girls, R, and I made 175 "drumsticks" out of rice crispy treats and pretzels and marshmallows dipped in white chocolate!

Lou was proud of her peacock!

 

 

Friday was the warmest day and they were finally able to do some water games.

 

 

We had our after VBS BBQ and had our largest attendance ever!

 

 

Sunday all the workers and kids wore their shirts to church and we did VBS songs for the music.

 

 

Bug and Boo were at another church with friends but Peanut, Peaches, and Lou helped lead and do motions.

 

After church Lou was so excited to get to hold baby K. Our church is bursting with babies right now! I think there are 7 or 8.

What an amazing week!!! So many people put in SO many hours of prayer and work to make this happen...(Noni most of all!) and it was all such a blessing! We are so thankful for such an incredible VBS!!!

VBS! - Part 2

 Each morning when the kids came in they got a sucker if they were able to say the bible memory verse from the day before.

 

 

The other incredible thing about VBS this year was the numbers. The last 5 or 6 years we have averaged 50-60 kids. Last year we were excited when one day we got up 62. I think that is the highest we have had in many years. This year our biggest day was 116!!! Noni and some of the other ladies worked so hard at advertising that our numbers pretty much doubled! In the past I plan for 100 snacks...fifty kids, about 30 workers, and then I give myself a buffer in case we get extras. This year I planned for 150 and had to go to the store once to get extra food because between kids and workers I was doing about 175 snacks every day! We had 50+ workers! 

Day 3 the special activity was face painting! The kids were so excited and the ladies worked so hard painting that many faces!

 

 

 

The preschool was the biggest group. They had 32 in there one day!! Usually they have about 15. Noni actually ended up splitting them into two groups and putting half in a second room. They painted a few of them before we started for the morning to cut down on the numbers during their session.

 

  

 

Lou chose a fox to go with her shirt. :)

 

 

 

Since Bug was a face painter Ms. J helped me that day. 

 

 

It was Adam Racoon and the Flying Machine so we made cupcakes and then the day before I had my helpers make me 175 mini paper airplanes. :)

 

 

 

Peaches got a Flamingo! The face painters originally picked two animals and practiced those but in the chaos of trying to get all those kids done they ended up doing any and all animals...one kid even requested a tractor! Haha. So Bug had never done a Flamingo before but it turned out beautifully!

 

Bug also did this hilarious one on her friend S. 

 

 

Even Pastor S got his face painted! The kids loved that.

Arts and Crafts was busy! They weren't prepared for the high numbers so they had to do some quick thinking but they shifted things around and made it work.

They did a lot of painting which the girls loved.

 

 

We are thankful for sweet friends!

 

 

Thursday was Race to Victory Mountain. Did you know it's SO much easier to cut brownies with a plastic knife than metal? You learn something new every day. :)

 

 

Our super warm weather disappeared for VBS week and we even had rain one day, but it all worked out.

Thursday we brought Boo's bestie home with us and I put the girls to work helping me make Friday's snack.
