Leftover Thursday

 Lou had the sniffles one day but T had agreed to fill in as a greeter that morning and I had worship team so we went and just kept her out of Sunday school and children's church. She helped Daddy balance the sound board while we were practicing our set.

 

 

Jax loves watermelon! He will eat a whole piece, rind included! Haha.

 

 

Bug made this adorable chalk drawing.

 

 

And Peanut made this one.

 

 

I had just been feeling bad for not taking the time to hit the volleyball around with Bug this summer. She was sick during one of the only volleyball camps of the summer that she could have attended, and I'd been thinking we really needed to get her some practice in when Miss K sent me this picture of her at staff training. She said anytime they had a free minute the teens would circle up and hit the volleyball around! I love how God takes care of those small details and lets us know He cares!

This picture was from early July but it was my first salad from the garden! Lettuce, kale, and spinach...they grew really well!

Quarantine Fourth - Part 3

 The rain finally quit on the 4th...it wasn't warm but Peaches put her swimsuit on anyway.

 

The girls and I played Taboo for a while.

 

 

It was the first time we'd really used the patio furniture.

 

 

And this was a first...we spent the 4th doing a pizza movie night. We watched The Rookie (from the 90's). It was funny to watch it now with all the out of date styles. I remember loving it as a kid.

 

 

After the movie it was bedtime but instead we went out and did a few fireworks. We hadn't planned to be home but thankfully we had sparklers, a few jumping jacks, and some ground blooms left over from last year. 

 

So crazy how different this summer has been! Last year we weren't allowed to do even sparklers because of the extreme heat and fire danger, this year it was rainy and cold!

 

The girls enjoyed the sparklers and did all 8 boxes!

 

 

Lou's first time doing them was a success! Although the smoke made her eyes water. :)

This makes me think of an evil jack-in-the-box. Haha.

Daddy and Bug set off the few jumping jacks and ground blooms that we had.

 

 

The little ones were pretty excited about that! 

 

 

Not a bad 4th for all the disappointment of being quarantined!

Quarantine Fourth - Part 2

 It felt strange to go back to online church, but we are thankful to have that option now!

 

 

 I looked over at one point and saw Peaches taking an "offering". Lol!

 

 

The rest of Sunday was spent playing games...

 

 

And instead of putting his pickup in the garage T got the old Ford and put it in there, haha. He spent hours working on it and was able to install new brakes! He, Peanut, and Boo drove it on the road a little ways and came back!

 

 

We did our big swimsuit try-on for the year and Lou's bee swimsuit finally fits her!

 

 

She was going around stinging people with her booty. Haha!

The actual 4th was cold and rainy! I think the high for the day was 58! Brr. There were lots of Lego houses built.

 

 

Peanut practiced her facepainting skills.

 

 

And Lou promptly ran over and face planted on our comforter. Just the week before I had spent over an hour washing it. It's too big for the washing machine so I have to put it in the tub and grapes-to-wine stomp it...not easy. Surprisingly the black and red came out no problem, but the orange left a faint yellow stain that none of the four stain removers I tried helped. :(

 

 

I taught Peanut how to make Hello Dolly's...my traditional 4th of July dessert.

 

 

And we ended up starting a fire...more to burn some trash than for heat, but the heat was also welcomed.

Quarantine Fourth - Part 1

 VBS was a hotbed of Covid activity...we heard of several families coming down with it during and right after. T wasn't even at VBS except for the BBQ the last day, but somehow he ended up getting it! Thankfully we had just been to see Mama and Noni...

 

 

Peaches must have taken this. I found it on my phone later. 

 

 

We had brought Mama a bunch of groceries and then the next day we were supposed to head to the farm for the fourth. T had been having a lots of congestion and sinus stuff so we assumed it was a sinus infection. The kids had all been sick at some point in the week before so we decided to just have him do a home test so we could tell everyone it wasn't Covid. Except that it was. :'(  He took two tests thinking that maybe the first was a false positive, but they both had a bright line within seconds. 

 

The girls were so sad that we had to stay home from Grandma and Grandpa's and miss seeing their older cousins...the last time we saw them was Thanksgiving. :( 

 

We tried to make the most of it. We spent that Saturday cleaning out the garage. It had gotten to be quite the mess and T hadn't been able to park inside for months because we had all the patio furniture piled in there.

 

 

We enjoyed the sunshine that day (it rained almost every day that week). 

 

 

This was all the cardboard we had after unboxing all the patio furniture.

 

 

T got the last of the tables put together. We ordered three! Our own family takes up a a whole table so it's hard to invite people over. Now we can invite two other families!

 

 

As part of their consolation prize we went and got the old pools out of the grange. Unfortunately both of them had holes but they were able to enjoy them for a few days at least and it took their minds off the fun they were missing at the farm.

 

 

It was not that warm but they had fun anyway! 

 

 

We enjoyed our first meal as a family on the patio that evening!

 

 

And then we pulled out Ticket to Ride! Not sure what is going on with Bug here. Haha!

 

 

After the kids went to bed T and I finished up the garage...yay for all that blank space!
