Snow Day!

 In early January we got several days of heavy snow and Bug got two snow days. One of the bummers about online school is no snow days but the other girls took a break after lunch and they all went out to play both days. 

 

We didn't get a ton but it was enough to make the roads bad for a couple days.

And the kids sure enjoyed it!

We also had some wind so there was some cool sculpting. 

 

 

For Christmas T got me motion activated surveillance cameras for the back and front of the house so he was able to see us outside and started talking to them. :)

 

 

I wish someone would invent gloves that go up high enough that the snow doesn't get down in them...same for boots! 

Lou never lasts too long but she has a great time while she's out there!

And then showed me what it was. :)

The roof had about an inch in one spot and a couple feet in others! The wind makes some pretty cool shapes.

 

 

Hot cocoa all around! 

 

 

I don't like the cold and it's not fun to drive in snow but it sure is pretty!

Farmhouse Update

Even though there are no major projects left in the house there are still lots of finish details to take care of so T tackled a bunch of stuff over the Christmas holidays. 

One of my favorite things he did was make doors for our bathroom out of wood that came off of his grandfather's old shop! I love how they turned out and knowing where the wood comes from made them even more special. His brother made entertainment center doors with some of the wood and his sister made a headboard for their bed! So cool. I love this piece of family history!

 

 

He got lots of trim work done, including interior door trim! Yay! He also put a shelf and bar in the coat closet so now people can hang their coats up when they come in the front door!

 

 

 

The biggest project he finished was the mudroom! This one took several weeks...mostly due to getting supplies to finish it. First we had to clean out all the shoes to start with a blank canvas. 

 

 

We crammed them all into the laundry room side.

 

 

 

Once again I show him a picture on Pinterest and he magically makes it come to life!

I really wanted to paint the whole thing white but I knew it would get destroyed quickly so I decided to paint the bottom part black...then T came up with the idea of just painting the tops black and I love how it turned out!! He found these fun shelf brackets too! Each of the lids hinges open to store all our socks and shoes! It's exactly what I wanted!!! (just missing the bottom trim)

 

 

There was a small space leftover on the end wall so I asked him to make a shoe rack...again showing him a picture and he whipped it right up out of some scraps. He's amazing! 

The other cool thing he did was make a spot for the cat. We put the litter box and his food and water in the last two spaces so his things are contained. Genius!

 

 

I'm so thankful for my handy husband! 

Lego Map

 We have really made the most out of Daddy's Lego map! He got it in June when we went to Oregon and it has taken us 5 or 6 family nights to put it together! 

 

 

Sometimes one of us helps Peaches and the other helps Lou, and sometimes Lou does her "own" map. She will actually sit for a long time and put the little dots on.

 

 

Peaches does surprisingly well following the paper and getting the dots in the right spots.

 

 

The big girls can usually get two squares done in the time it takes Peaches and I to do one.

 

 

We've enjoyed these family nights! 

 

 

And the finished product turned out really cool! We finished it on New Year's Day!

Leftover Thursday

 Peanut brought this home from church one day. :)

 

 

I had to get the oil changed one afternoon. Peaches came with me and had fun playing with this Princess castle. 

 

 

She accidentally did this the first time and then purposely did it about ten more times. Haha.

 

 

One day Peanut asked if we could have oatmeal for breakfast which was super surprising because it's not a favorite with anyone but me, and then I realized she had seen something in a magazine she wanted to try. :P

I had a doctor's appt one day so while I was in the clinic Daddy took the little ones to his office. He was on a webinar and looked up to see this. Haha.

 

 

One day I looked out the window and saw Jax laying here...right where Bug gets dropped off, only minutes before she arrived. This is not one of his usual spots so it left me wondering if he has an uncanny sense of time!

Wordless Wednesday

 

Boxsledding!

 Daddy ordered some laminate for the laundry room countertop and it came in the perfect box for him to turn into a boxsled for the girls. They loved it!

 

Daddy and I monitored the first round and then they did it again a few days later....I found these videos on my phone. It looks a lot more dangerous from these angles. Haha.

 

 

Nothing is as much fun as a box!
