Sheetrock

The whole time we were in Texas (and before we left) we were trying to find someone to Sheetrock, tape, mud, and texture the house. We tried 6 different companies and only one guy got back to us. He met with T the day before he left and gave us a quote of $24,000! Wow. We didn't give him an answer and kept trying to find someone. We got one other guy to get back to us (most didn't even return the call) and he could do it for less but couldn't start until mid-September. We arrived home on Wednesday, August 1st with no one to do it. Since T had taken the rest of that week off we decided to tackle the Sheetrock part ourselves and keep looking for someone to mud/tape/texture. This is what it looked like on August 2nd.

We called every teenage boy in church asking them if we could pay them to come help us, and got 5 different boys for scattered hours that long weekend. Because of that some of the church family heard of our plight and showed up to help us too! SOO nice!!!

Miss J and her daughter R spent most of that Saturday doing a wall, under the stairs, and some tricky duct work in the basement.

I told the girls they could take my phone around and get some pictures of people working. Peanut got me and the baby working on the other side of the duct work. :P

Grandma and Grandpa came out for the whole long weekend and worked too. So blessed!

They, along with S and J, did almost the entire playroom which was one slanted/angled seam after another!

The girls ran all over the house all day socializing and helping wherever they could. A ninja!

Mr. G also came to help on Saturday. Most of the boys came back Sunday afternoon to work for several more hours.

Buggy really wanted to do some Sheetrock by herself, but I was too busy to walk her through it. Grandma sweetly coached her through the whole process and she was able to measure, mark, cut, and put up three smaller pieces on her own!

She was so happy!

We couldn't believe how far we made it in those 4 days! We got over half done with the entire house...maybe even more than that.

I asked the people I was working with to leave us a verse or blessing on our house. :)

We continued to put up Sheetrock the rest of that week in the evenings, and all of the next weekend. Some of the boys came back the next weekend, and Grandpa and Grandma came to the rescue again.

We are so blessed to be part of such an amazing church family! They were quite literally applying Galatians 6:2 Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. We are beyond thankful!!!

Soccer Camp for Peanut

Peanut got to go to a soccer camp too! Hers was every day for one week so it was a busy week! Because of the way our summer schedule worked out we had to do it in a different town that is 45 minutes away so I got two of her friends on board and we carpooled. I had Tuesday and Friday. We got there with 5 minutes to spare so they begged to go on the playground.

It was hard for them to leave the playing kids, but I think they ended up having just as much fun with their soccer coach!

She was a local college student and was really good with the kids. She had a long last name so she had them call her Coach Grasshopper. :)

It looked like they were working on some foot skills too...just the basics.

It was an hour and half long and Bug, Boo, and Peaches had a ball playing on playground. Peaches wanted to swing for about half that time.

She loved it when I pulled her up high and then let her go!

Bug and Boo would have gotten bored, but there were some other older siblings there and they all started a rambunctious game of chase/tag/lava monster. :)

Hot and tired, but a fun morning!

It was kind of funny/ironic...after Tuesday they moved into the high school gym because the smoke in the air (from wildfires) was causing unhealthy air levels. The ironic thing was they ended up practicing in a gym that had just been re-finished and had signs up saying stuff about the hazardous varnish fumes. Yes, the smoke was bad outside, but the gym smelled even worse!! :P And wasn't air conditioned so it was just as hot inside. Lol.

I didn't realize any of this until Friday when it was my day for carpool again. Oh well. Kids lungs are resilient right? :P

I let K,S, and E play on the playground for only about 20 minutes because of the smoke and heat. It was above 100 that day! Then we got in the car to explore the town...which took all of three minutes. Lol. We went into the pharmacy and spent half an hour looking at every toy and decoration they had to offer. Then we went to the grocery store and walked around until it was time to pick up the girls.

Soccer Camp for Bug and Boo

Bug and Boo were able to participate in a soccer camp this summer that was 2 days a week for most of the summer. The coach allowed us to pay for just the days we were there since we missed several weeks due to VBS, the Lake conference trip, and Texas. It seemed like they really learned a lot from the times they were able to go!

I didn't get very good pictures as I didn't want to interrupt, but I took a few through the fence. :P

They liked the fact that they didn't have to run much like they do at regular soccer practice. Haha.

It was a skills camp so they did a lot of footwork and strategy.

I guess I should have gotten a picture before they went, but this was the last day and I made them get a quick one after they were done...and all sweaty. :P
